all the talk about LSU is about how great we are and how hard it will be to beat us.
....how Texas plays small ball and we play Gorilla ball.

Even the team members seem to tow the party line
"I think it's tough to beat us right now with the way we're pitching and hitting," said Blake Dean

I just know that pride goeth before a fall and humility (no matter how good you are) brings admiration. And everyone likes to see a meek David bring down a boastful Goliath.

It bothers me that we are probably just a bit too cocky.
anyone else?

Those ESPN announcers have all but given the Tigers the trophy. Can't really blame them the way LSU has been playing of late.

The players cocky? I thought the dugout for the last two games was very methodical somewhat sedate. They were excited but took care of business, like they had a job to do and that was to play Monday.

I can see how our chicken little fans would be bothered by a confident team on a 13 game winning streak. I'm sure some wish we were the underdog and all the talk was about mighty Texas.

I can't fathom this mentality. I enjoy knowing we are the best team ... and our opponent knows it.

The thing about baseball is that a positive form of conceit is almost necessary to play the game, particularly from the offense standpoint.

Because the game requires such high levels of mental and emotional toughness, self-confidence is one of your most important weapons.

While it's never right to be arrogant... you HAVE to be a little cocky to play this game well. It's just... baseball. It's different than Sunday church and Yahtzee.

It seems hypocritical that the criticsm we use against Texas is what we have to show for it. Confidence is not the same as arrogance. Hope the players aren't influcenced by the fans having their heads up their arse.

all I am saying is the way we are hanging crepe, that if we lose, it will be like the titanic going down.

I love LSU baseball. I am friends with todd walker, mike neal, and warren morris. This team just seems to be a bit too cocky for my liking.

Apparently this bothers no one else. I just like humility more than eating humble pie.

If honorable is the same as having a vagina, then I will need a certificate for a "honorary vagina"

Bro,
If anyone has been demonstrating cockyness during the CWS its the Longhorns. The Tigahs have been level headed this whole time, on a mission so to speak. They will not stop until the mission is completed.

I'm not all about showboating & over confidence but you have to admit, those teams from the 90's that won 5 NC's, those guys were walking around with a bit of a swagger & it seemed to work out ok for them. In baseball especially, I think a team/player has to be able to cease the momentum & feed off of the hype-IF it is true & not a smokescreen. Baseball is a mind game as much as it is a physical game, if one team is doing all the right things & chugging along without a hitch, you have to be able to harness that feeling in & walk up to the plate/mound/field with it & let that confidence carry you through the next pitch/hit.

I like where this team is at, they see the finish line & they are feeling the juice. That to me isn't cockiness, that is knowing that you are good enough to do it & now you are gonna walk up to the starting line & do what got you there. If this team was already talking about rings, banners, & post celebrations, I'd be worried but these guys are talking about how they are peaking & how thier teammates are coming through when needed. That ain't cocky, that is confidence.

This is how I see it as well. I heard BD's post game comment, but didn't feel that he said it with a cocky attitude.

Did you see Schimpf after he launched that homerun???? He wasn't celebrating, didn't even crack a smile. The same with Dean. These guys are all business.

As others have said, I think that the guys are just confident, but not cocky. It's good to be confident. A team that has lost its confidence can be, and many times is, beaten by a team with lesser ability. They have reason for confidence, since they have won 13(?) in a row over some very good teams. They KNOW, however, that they CAN be beat (and have been 16 times this season), so I don't think they are going to be OVERconfident.

BTW, to the poster earlier who thought this thread may be BS, TenMan has been in many in-game threads this year. He is DEFINITELY a Tiger fan through and through.

I agree. In my opinion last year's heartbreaking outcome placed a determination within these guys. They aren't cocky, they are determined. Geaux Tigers!

It's called swagger and it's a must if you want to be successful in baseball.

I LOVE the way those two rarely change their facial expressions. Some may mistake it for lack of emotion. I see it like you said...they're all business, and there's more to do. LOVE IT!!
