too bad it wasn't the strike zone challenged ump that was behind the plate against WF
Yes, and hit him square in the face.

I am all for teams getting rewarded for not losing a game and a team being punished for losing a game in Omaha. It is not fair that the FL side of the bracket had the ability to start its Ace 3 times Fri. Wed. Mon. with 4 days rest between games. Mean while the LSU side only had a 4 day rest between Sat. Thurs. Then 3 day rest Thurs. to Mon. This has to be changed! The FL side could win it all with 2 starters the LSU side needed 3 different starters no matter what. Play 4 games on Friday and 4 games Saturday. then move on with the format of 2 games per day after that.

if you win when you're supposed to that is the result

You should have to actually pitch 4 balls to intentionally walk the batter. Its too easy now to put a good hitter on base. Mistakes can happen when throwing intentional balls and its always been part of the game.
I agree with this.

Intentional walks should have consequences... I've seen a number of wild pitches over the years. It's a pitcher who may already be struggling with control, and the extra stress and location just zaps him.
With the focus on pitch count, some may argue that the current rule helps; I disagree. Shouldn't reward a guy (lower his pitch count) by conceding a base. Make him throw those pitches.
And going back to location... if he's already shaky at throwing over the plate, go ahead and make him throw the intentional walk. It's gonna screw up his release and location even more, instead of trying to find the strike zone.

In short, it's a move for time management and lower pitch counts, but there's a lot it removes from the game. Go back to actually throwing the pitches.

I don’t think that’s possible dude. That’s over 12 hours of baseball at one park.

They’d have to have like an 8:00 am start for the first game. No one wants to play a game at 8 am.

There should be an advantage for winning your first three games but not the massive advantage the schedule has created

Of course you don’t use a MLB zone, expand it to an agreed upon size and it’s set. Everyone understands the expectations and nobody is surprised by some BS from ump to ump

I think everyone would be satisfied just with some consistency

And it's a cluster anytime there is rain.

If they are going to try to cram the two brackets together, they'd have to have two sites with staggered starts for TV.

Site 1:
1pm & 7pm

Site 2:
11am & 3pm

Or something like that.

That's probably one of the smarter changes they've made over the years. Yeah mistakes "can" happen, but come on...

I'd love wood bats but seems like they'll never do it.

I hate wood bats.

I love the sound of that “ding” off an aluminum bat.

Agreed, but i think at this point we are asking too much for consistency from humans, case in point: Angel Hernandez/Laz Diaz/Cowboy West, all pros that are god-awful. Bring on robots

the fun part of the intentional walk is when the fans are pissed at not seeing their guy get to hit. throwing the four pitches lets the booing build and creates drama

I have written this a lot on TD, but I have the solution.

The home plate ump has an ear piece. The ear piece tells him instantly ball or strike using AI or whatever. He still gets to yell it out, still gets to use some flare for strike 3, etc. The players and fans in the stands would not notice any difference except a perfect strike zone.

They are already doing this in the American Association (independent league ball) and did some testing at the AAA level last year with more expansion of the system this year.

Baseball America: Automated ball-strike system (ABS)

perfect strike zone.

And no... it isn't perfect. Check out the video below.
