I’m re-watching the Bowl Game versus Purdue and Garrett got a series in the first quarter. He looked really sharp and made some impressive throws.

The second play in the game he hit Nabors in stride on a 40 yard throw that Nabors dropped. He also had a good game in the SECCG.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very excited to see JD this year and think he will have a breakout year. He’s reportedly really put in the work and bulked up some. Nevertheless, he was pretty inconsistent last year.

I think Kelly gets Nuss into the game for one or more series. JMO.

Maybe if LSU leads by 28 with 5:00 to go.

Yep, you're spot on.

Going into the Cheeze-it Bowl at the end of the season is equivalent to a top 10 matchup in the season opener.

Game plan will be identical.

What if Daniels is inconsistent? It’s possible.

I like that we have a declared starter and I’m comfortable with Daniels in that role.

I also think it helps to have a 1B, who gets meaningful playing time to keep him sharp.

Downvote away you sensitive pussies.

He’s a back up QB and will only play if we up 30 in the 4th

What’s your point? I’ve been on the board since 2003.

Lots of time to earn some wisdom.

I agree but this post makes me think you've acquired nothing in that timeframe

Don’t worry. The excuses will start rolling in. He’s sick. Drops. Ol sucks. Game plan is terrible.

Jayden certainly had issues at times last season but IMO i really think he comes out looking sharp this season.

Yes, they’re going to alternate snaps. Might even have them both in at the same time each calling a different play and whoever gets the snap gets to play QB on that particular down.

Hopefully Jayden is playing so well he doesn't give him the opportunity

That’s a solid opinion, and nothing wrong with it. It assumes a very positive situation that I hope for, that Daniels will be not only good but consistently very good.

But let’s not pretend that coaches don’t hedge their bets when they have a seasoned and talented back-up. I just pointed out that Kelly did that very thing with Nussmeier last year.

I can see it going either way.

I’ll revisit this post after the game to discuss either way. You can hammer me then if appropriate. (I won’t mind since it will mean that Daniels had a good outing, which would be great.)

How are we sensitive for disagreeing with your take? I feel the roles are reversed?

You clearly know nothing about football. They do rock-paper-scissors in the huddle so everyone knows who is QB that play.

i'm downvoting this because i KNOW you wouldn't say this if Nuss was starting. No coach IN THE COUNTRY does this.

Yeah yeah. Let’s take out our 5th year QB, Heisman Trophy candidate and give him a time out in a game against a top 10 opponent.

Real men of genius thinking here.

Unless you are up or down 30 this is Daniels’ game and season.

Only way that happens is if JD looks like absolute crap or gets injured, or we're up substantially at the end of the game.

Classic Rant, on gameday against a top 10 team and already clamoring for the backup QB before pregame even starts. We've had a heisman QB future first ballot HOFer on the bench every year for like 20 years now.
