Does Chris Curry transferring out kind of cheapen the #18 tradition?

I mean hell, there is a wall in our new training facility dedicated to those who've worn it.

To me, it seems like the whole thing has become a forced affair. IMO, unless there's a clear cut #18 for each year, it should just be skipped

I think what most fans do not understand is #18 tradition is for the TEAM, not fans not press etc. The team owns it and loves it. It will never go away....

Giving #18 to Curry and Clark last is what cheapened it. Very subpar years by both and they are supposed to be leaders!

Leadership doesn't necessarily mean elite play. That's what 7 is for (unless your last name is Giles).

Sure, I get that. But why would the team hold in high esteem a guy who leaves because of playing time?

See above.

I would assume the team made that decision with more info than you or I are privy to.

The roster of 18s should define a Tiger. Now there is a Ute on the wall. Of course it cheapens it.

So no one that transfers here should be considered leaders of the team then?

Speaking of #18... I think kirklin will get it on offense and Clark will keep it on defense.

Does the team not know he left? Is he still secretly in the building?

Are you purposefully missing the point?

I'm not sure what this has to do with the decision to give him the number last year.

Kirklin seems like he'd be a great choice. Sat behind all the studs from 2019, when he easily could have transferred out. Now, he's got his chance to be the true WR2 in his senior showing.

handing out 2 per year cheapens it.

I think #18 is actually legitimate. It was never about giving it to the best player, the biggest name, etc. I've always thought of it as essentially a captains patch. #7 on the other hand, I'm not a fan of.

The whole year was "cheapened" and forgettable because O thought he was a TV star, the fallout with him and the team, the Pelini hire, and a miraculous finish just to get to .500.

Don't use Curry as a scapegoat.
