It's working as is.

No need to change up a players role when nothing is broken.

The only change I would possibly agree with is changing up who is lead off. This team does not really have a traditional clean up anyway.

And to get Landry's slumping bat out of the lineup.

No, you don't mess with what works.

You same people brought up this crap last season.

Why on earth would you mess with a great thing

It means "14-1" and "if it ain't broke" are dumb arguments and Coach Mainieri has shown that he will make a change if he feels it will make his team better. You can always try to improve.

I have wanted Rhymes in the top 3 of the lineup since the preseason, but Coach Mainieri thinks different. He is the head coach, it is working out great right now, but if there is room for improvement, Coach Mainieri will make the change if he thinks it will improve the team. He isn't scared to make a move.

I like the lineup how it is. However, if Sciambra doesn't get it together soon, I wouldn't mind moving him to the 9 hole and moving everyone up one spot.

He may find himself out of the lineup if he continues to struggle and Stevenson makes the most out of his opportunities.

So far what has lead Mainieri to want to change the lineup?

I'll hang up and listen

Nothing.

But you would have said the same thing when LSU was ranked #2 in the nation in 2009. "We're playing great, why change?"

I just think the power hitter should be in the clean up.

that's text book for the pros but not ironclad. #3 and #5 holes are power hitting positions also.

Like someone a little earlier said, having him in the 4 is fine because you have 1-3 who all get on base pretty frequently, particularly Laird and Bregman. Put that with Rhymes who is also a high obp guy and that is about as close as it can get to almost ensuring a runner is on when Katz (basically the only true power hitter) is up. I actually think its a brilliant move.

It looks a lot like the "money ball" philosophy to me. Not sure if that's actually the intention it just looks that way.
