Does anyone else not particularly care for the new Box?

First off, I've had season tickets for 25 years. I think it was time for a change. Not even renovations would've done much at the old Box.

I think they tried way too hard to mimic the old when they built the new and it just didn't work. It's layout is awful. If you don't park in the hayfields off Gourier, it's a fricking hassle to get to the stadium and to your seats.

They should've put chairbacks along the entire baseline also, IMHO.

To be an even bigger bitch I'm also going to point how how terrible the three ads on the backstop look. I cannot stand the Tony Chacheres ad behind the plate.

Somebody mentioned a basketball program allowing fans to come sit low along the sidelines at games if you bought a bracelet or something. LSU needs to do this with the gold seats.

The best looking SEC stadium to me is South Carolina. I wish LSU would've gone more in that direction.

Flame away!

Was your head about to explode?

Hess pitches good.

Slaughter went 3 for 3.

LSU won the game.

What's the next best thing to complain about? One of the nicest college baseball fields in the nation.

This seems to be a pretty common opinion and I agree. The stadium is kinda too typical and basic to me. And of course it was done on the cheap. Chairbacks should be all the way down the line with cupholders. Also, the bleachers in left are laughable. No backs on those? Yeah, the fans begged the administration to bring the left field bleachers from the old box over to the new....i'm sure.
Parking is pretty terrible if you don't pay. There needs to be a crossover going over nicholson to avoid the danger potential there. A berm, yeah I know it seems tacky, but it would have improved the atmosphere. Ole Miss students turn that thing into a party, and I'm always jealous of their atmosphere during big games (the few that there are).

It's just laughable. I don't know I was younger at the old stadium and just didn't pay attention to deails but it's embarrassing how bad the exterior of the suites on the 3rd base side needs to be pressure washed. It's turning green.

The section I'm in has a spot where they took a saw to the floor and it's so fricking jagged. Literally no fricks were given.

Bingo. Should've added both of these to the OP.

They'll never build a bridge over Nicholson. They'll just wait for somebody to get hit by a car then crack down on where you can cross the street, just making the it more difficult to get to the stadium.

Yeah it’s poorly designed. It seems too spaced out and is like 60% concrete. Plus the atmosphere is weak af

Really my main complaint is too many bleacher. No reason they couldn’t have done seats all the way down the line

Don’t mind anything but the Ads behind home plate. Plain purple or gold with LSU logo or something from dugout to dugout would be my choice.
The Box, since before I can remember has always been known for Ads on the outfield fence. I thought it actually was pretty cool, gave it that authentic college feel to it.
BUT in recent years, especially in the new Box, the Ads are out of control. They're on every inch of the stadium.

100% agree. Used to have threads and a long list of grievances. The shiny spearmint green walls instead of flat plantation green like MLB, the three different colored chair backs instead of just one, the lack of chair backs down the lines, lack of OF berm, unsightly gap between boxes and grandstand, OF bleacher setup, lack of wood line to breakup yellow tin monstrosity in the backdrop(Ponderosa)..etc

New Dudy Noble and also Founders Park >>>>>>>>> New Box

Honest question to the ones who went to the old Box. Why do you think this is? I personally think the demographic changed with the new Box. At the old one, people went because they wanted to watch baseball. Now it's become a social event and, like tiger stadium, has become too corporate. Girls now get dolled up to go for the socializing. You just never saw that at the old Box.

Glad I’m not the only one that hates the ads behind home plate. I’m not opposed to ads, and understand they are a necessary evil, but behind home plate that is contstantly on camera needs to be “classed up” for sure and at minimum symmetrical. IMO behind home plate should be only “LSU ads” if any at all.

Totally agree about chair back seats. No reason LSU shouldn’t have chairback seats around the entire stadium, including the outfield seating.

I think the old box had more fans feel on top of the field making it a more intimate experience where as this stadium seems to have everyone more pushed back from the infield and foul lines.

I could be wrong tho. Only went to a handful of games in both stadiums

I'm all for ads on the outfield wall. That's classic. Although, they literally filled the entire wall with ads. The old Box at least had them spaced out. Was a much better look IMHO.

I like the grand stand a lot. The concourses with views of the field is a huge upgrade from the dinky (but charming) old Box.

Where the new Box looks bad is in the outfield with the asymmetrical bleachers.

If I were in charge of renovations and had the money to do it, I would:
A. change out the outfield bleachers on one side to make both sides match
B. install an outfield berm where blankets and ice chests are allowed and tickets are like $10/person
C. extend the grandstand and luxury suites all the way down the 1st and 3rd base lines like at Arkansas

As for parking, it was fine up until 2/3 of their lot was taken away to make way for the new UREC fields.

I honestly don't care about chair backs. I sit in Coon's corner and don't find the bleachers to be particularly uncomfortable.

I don't care about ads as they help keep season ticket prices down, although I think they could be done a little more tastefully like at A&M.

I'd forgive all the problems with the stadium if they just sold beer everywhere.

This. Cold, cheap beer would make those long hot afternoons in the diamond deck a lot more appealing.

This administration will never in a million years allow this. Just forget it because there is an exactly 0% chance this idea even gets consideration.

The designers failed miserably on the Standing room only. Zephyr Field (Baby Cakes field LOL) has nice, large concrete concourses on both sides of the stadium which gives great views of the game and can fit tons of fans. If Alex Box had done that, they could have fit in a couple thousand more standing room fans for the Super Regionals to keep breaking attendance records.
