fify
Why is there a popularity contest on a 2016 player.....still triggered?

How about a Garrett Temple popularity contest? I say "you geaux Garrett", but nobody gives a shite about a LSU UDFA still cashing NBA checks closing in on 15yrs........but that Simmons fricker, let me tell you.

The only thing good about Johnny Jones was Keith Hornsby.

He just didn't live up the hype and the team fell apart, coaching being a big factor why.

Johnny Jones had the team improving each year he was here. Lost on a buzzer beater in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament before Simmons was here. Ben Simmons gets to campus, did his thing and Johnny Jones lost the team and the fanbase and never recovered. Simmons destroys whatever team he his on whether he has good stats or not.

I think His reputation on here is insane.

He was easily one of the best players at LSU in the last 25 years.

He came here and realized Johnny Jones was a just a guy in a suit and not a basketball coach.

And because he’s not Lebron James everyone hates him. The bar was set so high that because he literally didn’t carry the team people HATE him.

NVm that he was actually a good player.

Mean while guys like Josh Gray were beloved because idk he made it look harder thus he was trying more? Guy shot like .211 from 3 his last year here.

Did you forget how that game got down to a buzzer beater?

The coach's job is to NOT lose the team.

It’s happened to every team Simmons has been on.

I for one don't like him

Do any of you, as LSU fans, appreciate Ben Simmons for what he did during his time at LSU

He absolutely did nothing for LSU. Though he had the ability to take over games, he refused to and always played the beta passive role. The one season He was on campus, that LSU basketball team absolutely had the talent to make the NCAA tournament. That team was so broken that they turn down and NIT bid..... Primarily because he quit on the team and wasn't willing to play.

Look at his pathetic NBA career. All he had to do was develop a respectable mid-range jump shot and he could be a top five player. There's more about posting pictures of his stupid cars on Instagram. Never did a player come with more fanfare only to be a supreme disappointment

It didnt happen in high school or the 76ers. It happened in Brooklyn when they had an even less qualified coach for his position than Johnny was.

This.

He was incredible to watch at times and put up big numbers and people act like a tuba player was better than him.

I agree. And he had a very good season for LSU without much help. Folks seem to forget that.

Let’s just be honest, people would’ve loved him if the team had gotten to the tourney. They wouldn’t care that he’s a head case just like they don’t care OBJ is a nut job. He gets the blame for a bad coach who was at the mercy of a certain recruit who was paid to come here and poison in the locker room. But to say Simmons wasn’t outstanding at LSU is just false.

Even worse, most of us are probably indifferent towards him. He’s forgettable in the grand scheme of things

I don't have any feelings towards him one way or the other.

I do not consider him a tiger. I mean I know he played for LSU. But he never allowed himself to become a tiger.

He is a good player and from all accounts a very nice guy. I really don't get the hate.

The team was lost because Johnny Jones added Blakely at the last minute, then proceeded to let him brick like 20 shots a game on a team with several capable scoring guards. Seriously, why would a teammate have an issue with a 6'10" star who prefers to pass instead of shoot? He also seemed to have a great rapport with Hornsby.

I remember all the posters on the rant who were sure Simmons was the problem, not JJ and were sure the team would be better the next year without him. We all remember how that went.

I'm glad he came to LSU. I'm more disappointed in whiney so called fans who take words out of context then whine for years about a lack of respect.
If he was playing for LSU, this season, we would be playing much better.
If he had played for Wade we could have made a final four.
