We were 3 points better than them in OT at their place on Nov 5th.

They were 21 points better than us on Jan 9th in our Superdome.

Sure, we played our worst game in years, but it was the game that decided who took home the crystal.

Bama played their best game on Jan 9th.

So I'll say they were better, but we still could have beaten them again in the Superdome.

pretty hard to dispute that Bama was the better team. Better overall defense (although ours was phenomenal all year), much better QB.
I am not ashamed to say I do believe LSU was the better TEAM. We proved that once in November. But when double-jeopardy came on Jan 9th, on that one night, the coach did not put the best LSU TEAM out there, or make it possible for that to even happen. So Bama came away with the hardware. I will not drink the "Bama's better" kool-aid.

Bama won the game and championship on Jan 9th. This is not disputable. But we didn't show up, so you you can't judge based on that game. We played 6 common opponents with Bama. We scored more in those games and allowed fewer points in those games (9 total). A point and a half per game is very close, but yes I think we were better than Bama. Only makes it hurt all the more.

If we take off the p+g glasses, its pretty hard to dispute that Bama was the better team. Better overall defense

There may never two teams so equal, in talent as this season with LSU and Bama . LSU had players on the bench that could have , would have helped .Neither os better , they are so close .Next season , well look for neither to be undefeated , when they play in Baton Rouge .

Bamma was better coached...

In the national championship game yes and more prepared but we were better in November. Does anyone really think this is the game we would have seen had we not already played them.

We certainly weren't twenty-one points worse than the Tide, based on overall talent.

I think they got better towards the end of the season, and we faded a bit. (not to say we didnt beat the shite out of ark and uga)... What I mean is we became one-dimensional offensively and that was the achilles heel jan 9.

This

It's not so much that we lost the NCG. It's how we lost the NCG.

I don't think LSU was better....but I don't necessarily concede that Bama was better either. But there is no question that Bama was MUCH better prepared on January 9th.

.....and that pisses me off more than having to admit that Bama was a btter team than LSU.

During his campaigning, Saban said we were the best team in the country. The Tigers are a more complete team and this still stands but they simply lost the mental battle that day.

The 5th was a better representation of how close these teams are, can't wait for them to come to BR!

put it this way, on Jan. 8th some people thought we just might be the best team in college football history, in part because of the Nov. 5th win. On Jan 10th everyone knew Bama was twice the team we were and that the Nov. win was a case of Bama beating themselves and us being the luckiest team in college football history.

It's not just about JJ! They were tearing our O-line up. McCarron was completing unreal passes. Even their special teams outplayed ours. How can anyone look at the two teams and think LSU was more talented in the first place?

Since 2008,Alabama's recruiting classes have been ranked higher than LSU's by both Scout and Rivals. As for the O-Line, until we get rid of "Stud the Dud" the O-Line will be average at best.Stud should have left with Crowton.

No the 1/9 just reinforced what the world already knew. LSU first win was a fluke upset and if Bama did't beat themselve's LSU could not move the ball let alone score on them.

Did LSU even try to move the ball?

Yes, I do until the coach(es)took the holiday season off and didn't implement a good game plan offensively in the BCS game. We were OUTCOACHED in the game!

LSU has had trouble moving the ball on alot of teams for the last 3 or 4 yrs. LSU's offensive production has been putrid for the entire JJ/JL experiment. Im not talking ppg, Pts can be generated by a combination of defense and special teams also. In terms of pure offensive production LSU was among the worst in the SEC.

In the two games combined LSU had two sustained drives for more than 30 yards. Think about how many possession are in 8 qtrs + OT period.

Bama had the #1 offense in the SEC and one of the best Defenses of all-time. They were the better team.

The teams were comparable in talent with the slight edge to Bama, but Bama's most talented players were from the 08 Class and 09 while LSU players were from the 09 and 10 Class.
