Well said 312. Is anyone else tired of Herbstreit? He needs to shut the hell up. He is no doubt the biggest LSU hater in recent years. I can hardly watch gameday because he's such a douche. <-- Herbstret's arse

thanks for the frissons

Now THAT'S a word I never expected to hear today. For you non-French speakers, and I am in between. Frissons is a word for shiver, quiver, or the proverbial gives me goosebumps.

J'ai les frissons aussi. Merci beaucoup, monsieur.

Major BS. You're telling me you sold tickets for a game in 1979 for $1200. Even if that is 4 for $300ea, that is almost $1000 a ticket today.

to the poster from Cut Off: glad you liked the "frissons" reference! Wish I could say I actually knew some French. That's just one of a handful of terms I remember from some friends who had French-speaking grandparents and from some guys I worked construction with quite some years ago. anyway, sorry for the trip down memory lane ...

By no means apologize, I was happy to hear it. I would have to assume that a WV fan or two saw this and wondered whether or not we speak English. I moved down here in 1969, and I had a hard time listening to CAjun French because I knew so little. The accent blows you away, and with some, it can be very thick..

Many years ago my son, and his then south Louisiana accent, went to and graduated from Hopkins in Baltimore. When he got ready to go, he told me that he hoped he would fit in. I assured him he wouldn't, and with his puzzed, desperate look he asked why. I told him that up in the northeast people have barely ever heard of Louisiana much less met somebody from there. The next thing that will happen is that they will hear you talk and use that flat sounding a that Cajuns use. And finally, you're going to tell them you are from a town called Cut Off? Trust me. You won't need to fit in. They will take you everywhere they go, and it's going to be like show and tell. You will be fine, and fourteen years later, it all worked out.

LSU fans need to realize that we are something else entirely. Separate from the team, we are our own entity, responsible for bringing the pain as much as we can.

At LSU there are four phases of the game:
1)Offense
2)Defense
3)Special Teams
4)The Fans

We party the hardest, we scream the loudest, and we make every visiting fan regret the fact that they went somewhere other than LSU.I don't care what happens on the field with the offense or the coaches. We should take pride in who we are and what we do.

I've tried, but the people around me seem not to have much sense of history.

Excellent. Just fyi, up until the early '70s all our games kicked off at 8 pm. The games were moved up so that the games would end early enough to make the East Coast newspapers. It is truly a magical time for kickoff.
