We didn’t have three walks… we had a strikeout that, for whatever reason, the ump wanted to send the runner to first on. Can’t blame Jay for that one bit

I agree that the ump was full of shite, but Floyd is usually only good for 4-5 innings. Not having the next guy warming to start the inning and ready to come on after the FIRST walk was Jay’s mistake. That should have been an automatic call. That game is totally different if we come out of the 6th with at least a 1 run lead.

Everyone does, sometimes a gamble pays off… like letting Ack go 6+ tonight. It wasn’t like he completely avoided baserunners.

I get doing it tonight more than last night. Ack wasn’t walking guys and Jay had to try and preserve as many arms as he could for us to even have a shot to win two more in a row. He did make the move at the right time tonight though, and it worked perfectly. Coop did a great job in both games vs UT.

That’s said, you can get away with making the move to sit Floyd two batters earlier if it buys you a day off and extra rest for Skenes and Coop. I know it’s hindsight, but it still hurt. But I also acknowledge that this is one bad call when Jay has made a lot that were right on the money this postseason.

Id see what Coleman give you first. Hope he csn get through the lineup once, when he gets in trouble pull him and hope Money can eat innings.

It’ll probably be money then coleman

Jay is nowhere near Paul with the slow hook on pitchers, but he does stick a little too long sometimes.

It's crunch time, in a big deadball park. And you're facing guys who are used to hitting a lot of HRs. Not everyone can adjust their swing and hit liners, after hitting towering homers all year. And I don't mean the no-doubters some dudes hit, I'm taking about those deep flies that drift just over the fence.

We just gotta come in, throw strikes, pitch to contact and trust that the park will hold them. If that happens, I think we have enough good bats to string some runs together, against anyone.

If we have any chance tomorrow, it has to be a strike thrower

If we have any chance in any game, it’s gonna take dudes throwing strikes. Money may start. And he may shove. But the decision can’t be based solely on the fact that he’s right handed and throws strikes.

Wake's biggest power hitters are righties which is why I like Money better.

That’s too simplistic without taking a deeper look into the numbers. I bet most of their homers were against RHers. It’s not automatic that every right handed hitter hits better against left handlers. Some lefties are really tough on righties. Did you not see how Wake’s lefty carved our right handers up with that slider? He was throwing it back door and getting Ks looking and throwing it down and in and we were swinging over it.

Or Jared Jones. Dude could not touch a lefty slider breaking down and in on him to save his life. That’s why he didn’t even platoon against lefties or get pinch hit opportunities in a close game.

I’m a Braves fan, and they’ve got a LHP in the pen (AJ Minter) who has much better splits against righties than lefties. One size doesn’t always fit all.

Again, I’m not saying Money is not the play tomorrow. He may actually be the best matchup. But Jay and Wes are gonna dig way deeper into the data, and if Money does get the call, it will be based on more than just him throwing right handed and the wind blowing in. He throws over the top anyway, negating the typical advantage of the ball running away from same side hitters. And right handed hitters grow up facing mostly right handed pitching. It’s not nearly the same advantage a LHP has against a LH hitter.

Maybe not start Money but play him. The one that scares me is Little with the control problems.

I’ve seen this sentiment expressed a few times the last couple of days, but his actual track record really doesn’t support it. When he’s run into trouble it’s usually been in the 3rd or 4th inning. When he’s pitched more than 4 innings, he’s been strong for 6+ more often than not. There’s no pattern of fading after 5 IP.

A&M - 3.1 IP
Arkansas - 6.1 IP, 2 R
Tennessee - 5 IP, 4 R (but a scoreless 5th.)
SC - 3 IP
Kentucky - 4.2 IP, 5 R (ran into trouble in the 5th not after 5, but somewhat follows the claimed pattern.)
Ole Miss - 8.1 IP, 3 R
Alabama- 2.2 IP
Auburn- 3.2 IP
Miss St - 6.1 IP, 1 R
Georgia - 7 IP, 4 R (Gave up 2 runs in the 7th.)
A&M - 5 IP, 1 R (Pitch count)
Oregon St - 3 IP (Weather delay)
Kentucky- 3.1 IP

Got into trouble 5 times in the 3rd or 4th in SEC play and postseason before CWS. 2 times taken out due to weather or pitch count. 1 time got into trouble in the 5th. 1 time taken out after a scoreless 5th. 4 times pitched 6+ strong innings. Not once did he hit a wall after 5 IP.

If you start Money against Wake you better have a plan to score ten runs. If he’s healthy, we should start Coleman in the first game and probably burn Herring to close it. If we win, and force a second game, we will probably have to roll the Little grenade out there and see whom it blows up.

If LSU wins, Skenes is on the mound on Thursday
