Even Mac was never content with losing to Ole Miss -- just Bama.

Les miles has definitely tapered my interest in LSU football. Maybe i lived vicariously through it in the past, maybe i didnt. But i definitely looked forward to watching them play.
Over the last 2 year I find myself much more indifferent. Im not sure how many other fans feel that way. BUt i'd watch what you ask for.

I have way too many other things going on in my life so no, i don't live vicariously through lsu however it is actually the very successful people in life who put a shite ton of money into this program who are not happy and you cannot blame them. Easy for some guy to not give a shite when he puts nothing into it. Simple concept.

I don't think anyone who is a fan is "content" with any loss. I'm not saying I am content with a loss, but as a fan, why rage about something you don't nor ever will have control over?

Don't know what that means
It means being content with averaging 3 loss seasons.

No fan is content with losing, but why get worked up about something you can't change?

Thanks for the self-help lesson. I'll go say a serenity prayer and forget the 3 losses in a row to Bammer.

In my case, the only thing that has lessened my excitement for LSU football has been the incessant complaining regarding discontentment about the program while winning conference titles and playing for national titles. Of all the things that have happened over the course of the Miles' Era...no loss, no bad play call, no off season bullshite, no crazy interview, etc. none of it has bothered me as much as watching our own fans eat the program from within and claim they are somehow doing it out of love.
FWIW, this wasn't directly as you, Lester...just using your line as a jumping off point.

I agree. Good point.
And I am sick of people telling me I am "settling for mediocrity" and to "get my head out of the sand" since I am not outraged/setting things on fire/writing the AD/etc.
LSU football is an entertainment for me. I love the school, got two degrees from there, and take a lot of pride in it. Do I want to win every game? Yes. Do I want to bludgeon every member of the coaching staff since we lost? No. I am over these losses the day after. I am proud of the grip I have on reality. We have a class coach that wins games more than he loses them. I am happy.

Bully for you...Hang onto these sweet, sunny thoughts.
You can be displeased with the current state of affairs AND have a grip on reality ya know. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

No. Why would I?

Absolutely.
The problem is that those that seem to posses that ability are not the ones dominating this board currently.
Make no mistake...those that are OUTRAGED and screaming today love LSU football no more than those of us who are not losing our minds. I'd argue that it's my love of LSU football, and my understanding of self fulfilling prophesy that helps prevent me from filling the board (or radio call=in shows as the case may be) with hyperbolic nonsense that will, by it's very existence, help to hurt the program by giving the impression all is lost. What good would it do, other than unburden me, to go around and anonymously bitch about ow terrible things are with the LSU football program? Does anyone think this is going to force the hand of the AD into firing Les Miles? Really? Even if I thought Miles needed to go (which I don't) that tact makes zero sense.
For as much as some in our fan base love to suck off our former coach, they have clearly forgotten some of his edicts...especially the one about catastrophe syndrome.

I agree with most of your points.
I don't gloat or bitch OUTSIDE of this forum in my own life. Don't want people thinking I'm a freekin lunatic. Just like to vent here cuz its harmless.

I used to care a lot more
Miles has kind of sucked a lot of that out of me
It's just a game and my life doesn't change with a loss. Do I like it? Not one bit

Having a family has def lowered my priority level of LSU football.
I still love it with a passion, but I have much more important things in my life.
Plus look at the money I'm saving.
No atl, no bowl game.
There's pluses to every minuses.

I grew up in BR going to LSU games with my family in the late 70s and early 80s. During that time, the experience of winning was the farthest thing from our mind. Going to see LSU play on a Saturday night with my family, tailgating, yelling for the Tigers and just enjoying the whole event was something that was a very special part of growing up. As I got older, I worked concessions earning money for school programs and then got to sit in the student section for 4 amazing years. I got to cheer for a few good teams, and there were a few good seasons but when I bragged about being a Tiger it was more coon-arse bravado than what the win/loss record showed.
After Saturday, I still love the Tigers. However, growing up a Tiger (and Saints) fan when I did, you learn how to love everything but the wins and loss record. I have been to every SEC stadium, most of the PAC-12 and a few other top-line Football places, and I would rather spend Saturday night cheering for an 0-12 LSU team at Tiger Stadium than any other place in the country. For those that believe that the magic of Tiger Stadium has anything to do with the football team, you need to get out more.

It's not about being content, rather its when the entertainment value goes beyond just that, entertainment. When you find yourself depressed and/or treating others poorly simply due to the outcome of a college football game there's a problem.
