I used to take college football too seriously. I've matured and it's now just a pleasant pastime. An LSU loss no longer ruins my weekend.

...there's a reason a large portion of professional sports team fans are uneducated and so crazy passionate. They have not been successful and try to replace it with their team's success on the field of play.
That's what makes this country so great. Whereas in the Middle East the uneducated idiots obsess over religion and political power to the point of executing ethnic cleansing campaigns, our uneducated idiots obsess over sports, which rarely yields results worse than a husband tasing his wife outside a bar.

When you give a stupid dog a chew toy, he's less likely to tear the rest of your house up. So while I find it pathetic how much some uneducated retards obsess over college football, I'm happy that they devote their lives to something so unimportant because the world is a much better place that way.

I'm not gonna lie, Charles. The sun shines brighter on Sunday mornings after a win. I DO realize that it will still rise, no matter what. I guess I care so much because I don't hunt, fish, golf, etc. I'm very busy with a wife, 2 jobs, and 3 kids. I look forward to kickoff for a year. When you realize in mid October that the season is shot, it does bring a somnolence to life. I so look forward to those 3 hours every Saturday. I get so emotionally invested and, BANG! It's over that quick. Hard to believe I'll be watching the arky game in 3 wks. "Wait till next yr" brings with it promise, and a realization of unfulfilled expectations. I make a good living. I have a home. I'm healthy and so are my kids. (But it would be nice to be ranked #1)

I used to take sports far more seriously when I was younger and a loss would usually stay wth me for a long time. I also took my frustrations out on my family with a bad attitude and such. As I've aged and hopefully matured, it's become much less of a big deal. I've realized its entertainment and even if LSU wins NC's, there is no lasting benefit from this nor does it change my life in a tangable way.

You don't pay him because it's important to people either. You pay him because his product sells tickets. Not "fills the seats", Not "stays the whole game", not even "wins championships" or "wins games". Like any other business, if he produces revenue and you want to keep him, he gets paid accordingly. Could that change, yes. Is it likely in the near future, no.

If you don't like the product, vote with you money, don't lose sleep over it.

I don't care about the coach salary bc I don't buy tickets or concessions and I'm not a TAF member. I think the casual fan gets to fixated on Les' salary.

If you own an LSU t-shirt or any other LSU gear, and if you make it a point to watch LSU football every time they play, you are living vicariously through LSU football to some extent.

But, it is healthy to keep things to a minimum, now that things have shaken out a bit for LSU football, and, we realize that we are not a dominant dynasty of college football greatness and championships.

Exactly, A top tier money producing program, like LSU, will pay their coach (whoever it is) top dollar and it's more closely related to his impact on the revenue stream than the W-L ratio or number of rings.

Just how it is in the modern world of college sports.

Amen. It is a GAME played by 18-22 year-old KIDS for FUN. Folks who post saying crap like "we shouldn't even go to a lower-tier bowl! That would teach this coaching staff!" are out of their minds. Did they run two-a-days back in searing August heat? Practice and play hard all year?? Just cheer loudly for the guys wearing yellow hats and have fun with it.
