He orchestrated the #1 offense in college football and his qb won the Heisman. He is a proven play caller and his offenses are tough to stop. That means he is currently the best offensive coordinator in college football. So yes he is worth $9 million guaranteed to notre Dame

JD made that offense… he 1/3 to 1/2 of JD plays were his scrambling, had absolutely nothing to do with Denbrock. Not the end of world losing Denbrock.

They just did this to try to frick with Kelly

ND hasn’t been great as of late. Kelly leaving, along with all the LSU publicity, they need a plus.
LSU winning a NC in both Women’s Basketball and Men’s Baseball, along with the Heisman Trophy Winners, as of late.

LSU will continue this!

Where does this narrative come from? You do realize that ND has a higher ranked recruit class than LSU, right?

Yeah and ND has been ranked ahead of LSU for 17 of the last 20 years…….tell me how’d that workout in the real world. I’ll wait…..

That a lot of money for sure. Not near what A&M paid for Jimbo. If I could write the contract the money would be contingent on performance. Based on number of wins. You go 12 and 0 yep you deserve the big bucks. Win the conference and then the NATTY even bigger bucks. You underperform and you get penalized. Longest contract is two years. No more multimillion-dollar buyout to just get rid of a bad coach. Not going to happen cause AD think it is monopoly money. Never underestimate how easily they can spend OPM.

ND is private, so I doubt they really know.

John Brice and the Football Scoop site are generally very clued in to such coaching moves, contracts, etc. and usually not far off the mark, if at all.

And in this particular instance I'd strongly suspect that ND themselves feel it is in their interests for this information to get out into the public domain.

Most OC's with a Heisman QB and two first round WR's are pretty good.

I think that is way more than what a college coordinator is worth. Bama has a revolving door of coordinators, and the argument can easily be made that elite talent makes up for medium spending on coordinators.
