Tires out your defense if not successful.

I'll take this scenario. So long as Freeze designs the formations and calls all the plays, I'm good.

I keep hearing this and its dumb. if anybody unseats Coach O, it'll be Aranda.

Auburn isn’t going to get Freeze, nor is anyone else for foreseeable future. Same thing with Art Briles. They have too much baggage for a major college program to take on. LSU would be put under a microscope by NCAA and news coverage would be brutal. Freeze should hope to get a small college job and rehab his image.

I really detest this type of post on many levels.

NCAA is not going to do anything different in terms of attention they are paying to LSU if we hire Freeze or Briles. What would they do... hire a PI to follow the coaches? Give us more piss tests? Won't happen and it's a stupid point.

I'll copy/paste part of a post I made 2 days ago on a similar topic.

quote:

For the record, I wanted Briles (jr or sr) last year and the year before that. (And I'm fine with Freeze, too.) Screw the thought that some people wouldn't like it and would complain. Someone will always complain and a lot more people are complaining now. They were also complaining last year, the year before that, and for several years before that. The amount of complaining about our offense has been fodder for negative recruiting and cost us more recruits than any stigma to Briles' name ever could... How many recruits have actually been steered away from FAU or Houston the past two years due to Briles? Any? How much trouble has it caused with boosters, admin, families or women at either school? I'm fairly sure Kiffin got an uptick in positive attention, fan & administrative support at FAU last year when Briles was there. Winning and excitement have a way of making everyone happier, including the board members. To the extent Orgeron, F. King Alexander, the board, etc. think Briles is an issue that would hurt the school, they lack vision and balls.

If there's anything LSU admin should worry about, it's the PR angle. Briles has already successfully coached at two schools post-Baylor and has had zero issue... and as I stated in the paragraph I quoted, I think he brought positive attention & excitement to FAU while there. So, PR is a complete non-factor for Briles at this point. And Freeze was always less of a PR issue than Briles and wouldn't be in charge. If there's no legal reason they should be denied, either would be fine.

Ed O says Ensminger is doing an amazing job

Almost near the bottom of over 100 teams in offense and O giving Steve E the on offense.

Wouldnt mind freeze or briles. to me those would be two solid hires

I don't think Freeze is even a thought for Orgeron guys. Don't set yourselves up for disappointment.

Agree... It is dumb that people keep suggesting O is scared to hire someone too competent. First thing O tried to do was hire Kiffin, who would've been a bigger threat to replace him than Freeze or Aranda. And, like you say, Aranda would likely get some consideration.

I hear Auburn will hire him after this season.

If this happens AND 0 keeps SE then that should lay bare the idiocy that imbues LSU's football program.

Freeze ain't going to do crap with the O-line play we have now.
Didn't Freeze run a pro style offense. I don't remember it's been so long. Our OL can't block this type of offense right now.

Any OC will have to get in there and hire the best OL coach and have reign over all things offense (recruiting, staff, and playcalling).

Yes, he most certainly could. His SPREAD SCHEME would have these exact same o-linemen looking pretty good. You just can't grasp the 180 the Freeze scheme would have on this o-line. I'm not saying he would have defeated sabamm the other night, but we'd score points and have a shot.

Hugh would love to come to LSU. He would rather come to a team that had a head coach that was more defense involved than offense. That is the advantage LSU has over Auburn. He is best friends with Gus, has a daughter that goes to Auburn but Gus is an offensive guy.

He'd be awesome here.

And the thought of letting Auburn get to him first, steal him away is making me queasy.

"We" have no control over the situation, however.
All we can do is type our editorials on this here message board. :(

Because he wasn’t allowed to get “the best OC he could find.”
