God I hope we are not heading in the same direction as Texas. Did UT fans love and support Mack as much as the LSU faithful do with Les? Or did they not even see what was coming?

One could do some sampling over time and see if fan forums are a significant indicator. But however it’s done, notionally fan enthusiasm is a factor in whether to retain paid coaches on almost every level and every sport.

For my part, I have no illusions that anything I post on TD will affect a hiring/firing, playing time, personnel set, play calls, on so on. So relax, Les isn’t going to stay or go because of anything I post.

Yay! My first stalker!!!

Yes, I made the statement that I didn't think Chavis would leave, the move still baffles me. Who do I think the next DC will be? Hmmm...I hate to be put on the spot but I don't want to disappoint my biggest fan so I'll say this, up until yesterday afternoon, I thought it would be Pendergast. Now I'm not sure, I would still like to believe it will be Pendergast but I'm not 1000% sure. Maybe Shoop or some "under the radar" candidate that we won't hear much about until the deal is done. Who knows but write a note to yourself to continue looking out for my next post, I may be right, I may be crazy, I just might be the lunatic you're looking for.

Stalker....not! Crazy....I was crazy once or maybe twice.

Yeah I'll let those important people handle the DC skinny and I'm sure they'll keep everyone updated.

Excellent point. Now we will have to remove the Miles clause for the new hire.....so, what have we gained? Could have done the same for Chief and not have this fiasco.

Please! Brown won 58% of his games in his last four years. Les is winning 78% of his game in his last four years.

When Les starts winning 58% of his game for a four year period, he needs to be retired too.

You are talking out of your head comparing Brown's drop off to that of Les.

a 6-6 next season puts les at 56% over 2 years

Not that far off, I don't think we are in that kind of decline but easy to lose 6 games in the SEC West.

Because this clause was such a big deal, Im absolutely convinced theres a high probability that Miles is fired or steps down in the next few years. Chavis not getting a third year tells me anything I need to know

Chavis knows the deal and jumped ship so he wouldn't be looking for a job in 3 years after that "Miles clause" kicks in.

STOP! There is NO question about Les' future, regardless of the Rant chatter.

Unless the bottom falls out (and for more than one season), Miles is at LSU at least until he breaks Cholly Mac's record.

To be clear, 8-5 (4-4) is not the bottom falling out.

I love our fanbase. 2010 - 2014 is the greatest 5 year run in the history of LSU.

We didn't win a single major (BCS tier) bowl in that 5 year span and won 1 SEC championship, 0 National championships. Our only post season bowl wins are a Cotton and a Outback (2-3 overall). Plus this 5 year span left us with the most legendary loss in our history with 1/9.

I would argue that 2003-2007 is better: 2 SEC Championships (03, 07), 2 National Championships (03, 07), another Sugar Bowl win (06), plus a Peach win (05) in which we curbstomped Miami (4-1 overall).

I would also rank 2000-2004 as being better: 2 SEC Championships (01, 03), 1 National Championship (03), another Sugar Bowl win (01), plus a Peach win (00) (3-2 overall).

In both of these 5 year spans we won more championships and bowls than we did over the last 5 years.

You absolutely nailed it.

And with A&M offering him an extra $1M, I can't blame him. He would have to be stupid loyal not to take it.

Les hasn't won under 8 games during a season in a decade, but you have him going 6-6. What fricking sense does that make? You have taken cherry picking to a new height. Now, you cherry picking made up results to come up with a winning percentage you want. You guys are too funny.

Les is going nowhere anytime soon even with your crazy 6-6. The man just signed until 2019. It would cost LSU like sixteen million to fire the guy next year. He is here for three more years no matter what. Anyone thinking different is naïve.

Its pretty damn close

It means LSU is 4-5 in games that matter. And dont forget Fla dropped a wide open, game winning TD pass. And whose to say what would have happened had A&M got the offsides penalty they deserved. And dont forget Ole Miss' brain fart

Ky was the one legit game we won without help. Kentucky!

one of the reasons there are so many cop shows on tv is because of the national need for FAIR.
we want to belive that the world is FAIR.

one of the reasons i like to visit and read the rant is because soooo many posters here are bat-shite crazy.
they want to believe the negative and it reinforces their POWER. some of the most negative really suffer from their ego god like power.

ex: Les will win the next 68 lsu football games in a row. (i am god, i know the future.)
