say the top 3 is definitely Alex Bregman, Aaron Nola, and DJ Lemahieu

Those first 2 are a few steps ahead of DJ

He was supposed to a spot player for the Yanks what?

He sort of was.
When the Yankees are healthy they’d prefer to have Didi at SS, Gleyber at 2B and Andujar at 3rd.
They knew Didi was hurt so he’d have a spot until the All-Star break, but after that it’s not clear what his role would be. Possibly 1st base as well as utility IF when other guys need a day off.

Why would a Gold Glove winning, defensive POY, Batting Champion, All-Star leave a team where he is a legend to be a “spot starter” for a team known and full of for legends? He would have been starter since Day One if not coming off injury

Gonna take a decade or so of great play to be a legend in that franchise
No way!!! All he needs to do is win the MVP a few times, frick Marilyn Monroe, do a few drugs and be elected to the HoF. Totally doable.

A career 300 hitter, 3 Gold Gloves, a couple of AS games, and a batting title isn't too shabby, baw.

The Yankees probably offered him more money and certainly a better chance to win a championship.
He really wasn’t a good offensive player his last two years in Colorado

Batted .310 in ‘17 and was All Star. Batted .276 in ‘18 with career high 15 home runs. His production was there. My point was he did not go to NYT to be a “spot starter”.

.276 with 15 HRs isn’t good in the best hitters park in the world. OBP was barely above league average as well.

Tell me what position you think he’s starting at if Didi Gregorius at SS, Miguel Andujar at 3B and Gleyber Torres at 2B are healthy?
Maybe 1st base over Luke Voit?

People act like this dude hasn’t won a batting championship and multiple gold gloves

That batting title is an outlier. It’s the only year of his career where he was definitely an above average hitter

Best of both situations last night: He played well, and the Astros completed a sweep of the Yankees.

But he did, he was signed to be a super utility type player for all infield positions.

It was planned all along for DJ to get considerable playing time. I don’t think it makes sense to call him a sport starter

DJ has won a batting title, three Gold Gloves, and been an all-star. He's as good as any former Paul Mainieri player currently in MLB

He doesn't get the recognition of others but that may change now that he is in New York.

I don't understand that line of thinking. He led the league in batting avg just a year or 2 ago.

I disagree that Bregman is ahead of DJ

Just because he got a huge contract doesn’t mean he’s a more accomplished player
