Beef you sound awfully informed about Dixons every action. Does it really bother you that I think the LSU PA job held by Sid Crocker then Dan Borne should be awarded to someone who can actually do a good job not someone whose daddy buys it for him?
Daddy got Dixon into his fraternity daddy gave Dixon his job at his firm. Daddy bought Dixon a "volunteer" announcing job at CHS not by sponsoring broadcasts but straight quid pro quo donations. Daddy made sure Dixon won his state representative job by funneling enough money to his son so he could outspend his opponent 4 to 1. Why are you so determined to get Dixon this job are you Wally? Why does someone having to earn their job by merit than having it bought for them bother you so much. You sure are defensive!

I have been pretty consistent that I think he actually does a good job. Its you who is attributing every thing about his life - even him getting into a fraternity, to his dad. You have a very strange obsession. You're calling him "Little Dixon". You don't find your reaction disturbing? Just say he's not good on the mic. Just disagree with me. BUT THE FRATERNITY! LAWD! His voice must suck because his dad paid for him to get into his fraternity! I'm convinced!

He’s only excruciatingly bad if he consumes every bit of headspace you have. Other than that you wouldnt really consider him, and you also wouldn’t constantly mention his family. Jesus Christ you sound like you have an axe to grind. As others pointed out, it’s not the play by play, honestly the PA just needs to speak clearly and with some semblance of a pulse, Dixon has been able to demonstrate this for several years across several sports, otherwise LSU would never let him behind the microphone. More importantly no one’s asking you to hang out with him on the weekends or even look at him.
Our fan base is fricking wacked out to get this worked up over an announcer.

So wanting LSU to hire a PA announcer who is at least competent instead of seeing it bought for someone who is totally incompetent makes me jealous? Ok Wally and what does all the things Dixon do for CHS have to do with his ability to call games competently Wally? I'm a CHS alumni too and have been at tables at the Men's club BBQ where one of the main topics has been how much money do we have to donate to get Dixon removed from the announcing booth.

Jesus Christ you act like Wally is Vito Corleone pulling all the strings at CHS and LSU, frankly you sound like a scorned lover. Never in all the years as an LSU fan have I seen this kind of response to the announcer role. I don’t think Jim Hawthorne/Chris Blair transition garnered this much discussion. Definitely without the personal attacks on family.
I hope you will be able to carry on if indeed Dixon gets the role. More than likely it will be an actual job search with several candidates, they hired outside of LSU for Jim Hawthorne’s play by play job so I imagine they will do the same here.

So this is your latest way to cope? Calling someone who disagrees with you by the person's name you are obsessed with? Surely, I could be no one else but Dixon's "daddy".
I can explain it to you but i can't understand it for you. You are unnecessarily bringing in personal shots at a man and his family to help your stance that he would be bad for the job. If you were to make the argument that he only got the CHS job and his LSU gigs bc of his dad - that's at least relevant to counter the points of him having those jobs. But the fraternity? His job? The election? Calling him names? Now you are just showing that you hate the guy.
If we were disagreeing over say a restaurant in town and I liked the food and you didnt - fine. But if you said you dont like the food bc the chef at the restaurant's dad is an a-hole.... well that tells me your personal feelings are probably clouding your judgement a little bit in regard to what the discussion is really about. I don't really give two shits who gets the job as it will not change my experience in Tiger Stadium but you sound like a complete fricking wack job for being this worked up over a THREAD ON TIGERDROPPINGS

What an unexpected hilarious thread. “Little Dixon” must have taken Rudy’s daughter for a nice seafood dinner and never called her again. Can’t imagine getting that worked up over the guy calling a high school football game.
Dixon was pretty good announcing the basketball games this past year and I think would be a good choice. Guy obviously loves LSU and Baton Rouge. It’s not like the PA job is going to be a national search. Can’t imagine the job pays enough for anyone outside of the BR area to be interested.

Did Dixon beat you out for backup quarterback at CHS or an award at Gamma? You seem very insecure about how another man was raised.
I think LSU needed to do a national search for its next PA announcer, but I’m sure they already had Dan’s replacement. If Dixon is given an audition, good luck to him.

I’m the one being defensive? You’re the one trying to justify that someone shouldn’t get an opportunity for a possible audition because of how he was raised. I can attest that most of what you’re saying has some truth to it, you just sound like you have some deep seated issues against his family.

I never said he shouldn't get an audition. Heck almost anyone should have a chance if they have any experience. My contention is I would like the winner of the job get it on merit since the previous two holders of the LSU PA job were/are legends Dan Borne and Sid Crocker i think the least that should be done to honor them and what LSU fans deserve is to give it to the best candidate not the one who can pay the most for it. I have heard Dixon call more CHS games than I can count and he is objectively horrible. He is slightly better as a PA announcer mainly because he gets less time to speak. Dixon has never earned a job thru merit in his life so I have no expectation he could do it now in an unbiased competition.
