If they weren't LSU players, it would be a total non story; everybody knows this, especially the media. If they were truth tellers they would say "this kind of crap happens every day all day and the smart policeman says to all involved: y'all better resolve this by yourselves or we are arresting everyone, those who busted in the door for illegal trespass, and those who live here for harboring stolen goods". It ends right there.
But they pretend like it's a huge deal because it's LSU football players, so the DA and the cops have to flex some muscle and the media has to pretend it's oh so serious.
The police and media already cost a great LSU football player who with an exemplary record a first round pick and millions of dollars, but hey, they were just doing their job.

So you are saying we have a better chance with a true freshman?? You must have been one of the fans who actually thought BH would play well against Auburn.
not at all, i am saying why not get ready for the future. I think if we do a better job of preparing for the future, the present of 8-9 wins a year and music city bowl wont be what we look forward to. Anthony Jennings is not the answer for the past, present or future

Im not saying that he is, but if the lefty is playing at all this year we are in big trouble.

Not likely, the plantiff is more likely to face theft charges than Jennings is. Remember he stole the stuff from Jennings and Jennings filed a complaint with BR police who failed to act on the complaint. Might be a kid of someone in the BR government so they ignored it.
He didn't steal it per se, but he did buy it from the guy who did steal it. He is already facing charges for possession of stolen goods, and may face subsequent charges for the items Jennings retrieved, provided AJ can prove they were his.

Probably just trying to make them sweat. The problem is we will need them all at the beginning of camp.

I like Hot Carl. The kill yourself was a bit much but other than that....

Hell at most other schools this wouldn't even make news. But at LSU seems like professors and police are out to get LSU football players.

Someone very close to this situation told me that this will be resolved before Thursday Aug 13th

Sumlin had a lot of issues so he invites the entire team, police staff both on and off campus over to his house for a bbq. LSU needs to do the same.
So what occurred to make them this way?

What's funny is that the people who want Jennings to get off without any punishment or jail time are probably the same people who bitch about crime in Baton Rouge and sarcastically say things like "Thuggin' it and lovin' it!" any time any other home invasion is in the local news.
If it was a kid who didn't play for LSU, they'd want the book thrown at him.
But if he's Anthony Jennings... "He's just a college kid doin' silly college things! He din' do nuffin!"

Anyone who wants the book thrown at any student for trying to get his stuff back when the police wouldn't help him recover it, is some sort of nut. He needs to be punished appropriately, which means he does community service and probation.

If this actually happened the way it was reported then the guys were wrong. You can take the law into your own hands but you must be ready to deal with the consequences. Now if they were really big and bad they would have confronted the guy that actually jacked him. The street mentality has to go. When you're 20 years old you can't use the excuse that I'm a kid

Second it wouldn't matter whom the player is. At some point CLM is going to have to implement a zero tolerance policy.
First offense or arrest 4 games
Second offense dismissed from the team.
Zero tolerance? For 18-21 year old kids. For "unlawful entry"? Good luck with that.

The "street mentality"?
He had something valuable stolen from him and he knew where it was. If he truly filed a police report and didn't get it back, I can understand his frustration. You act like they all wore black masks and carried AK-47s yelling Compton. This is not a "thug" act. It's college males being college males.
I'm a white guy who weighs 150 lbs and went to private school my whole life. I know how valuable something like my laptop was to me in college, and if I knew where it was, I'd probably ask my friends to help me get it back too.

I would say that the police and DA treat the football players like any other student, which is a good thing. I don't feel that Hill got any special treatment, and he got a sentence that nearly any college kid in his situation would have gotten.
I have little sympathy for the internet hard asses who want to throw the book at everyone, but I do believe strongly that the justice system should treat all of us equally. And I think the BR justice system strives to achieve that goal.
I think the four players will likely plead down to misdemeanors and see a minor punishment, but no jail time. Which I think is fully appropriate if Joe Blow committed this crime. This is kids being dumb, and we don't need to ruin their lives over it. Have some damn discretion. But they also don't get fast tracked just to make it convenient for the football team.
This is everything that needs to be said on the situation. Spot on my friend.
They essentially made a goof and thought that their right to personal properties trumped the other guys right to hide it on private property. They deserve some community service time, a stern talking to, and a very short suspension. They'll know they made a mistake and everyone can move on with life.
