The offensive line and the ability to dominate the line of scrimmage. Is usc going to score? Of course! However, I believe you will see a more pound the ball control the TOP and keeping our defense off the field. By late 3rd, you will really see the wear and tear. I expect over 250 yards rushing against a below average USC front. Also expect this strategy for almost all of our games. Will suit us much better to getting to 10 wins. Our offense was amazing last year, but when you have that ability to control the clock, an elite oline, and players like Kjack, and Williams, emery. Pound the rock! it minimizes defensive efficiencies big time and allows players to be rested. Our offense scored too quick, which in my opinion hurt our chances (especially against ole miss) feed big Kaleb an let them big guys up front dominate

If Kaleb Jackson plays like he measures and looks, he should be the difference maker in every game.

Nuss will be tossing it, as well

The key will be him not forcing it often and turning ball over with INT’s.

Running game will open up shots down field too

There are really just too many unknowns to have a strong take on this game. New OC, new QB, new receivers, entirely new defensive staff. USC has a ton of unknowns and new faces as well so they are hoping for a big improvement just like we are.

the obvious consensus.

i will add that the timing of those play action throws will be big. IE if he can hit an early one, take an early lead, running that ball and TOP becomes huge....I know....captain obvious.

LSU will have trouble with Branch (USC WR) because LSU does not seem to have anyone to match up with him. other than that, I think LSU will be in a good position to take this one.

I agree. BK is telling you this in his pressers.

We don’t need GN to be a heisman finalist. It would be great if he was, but it’s not as necessary on this team. The development of the run game will heavily dictate this offensive production this year. It will be nice to see!

Am really hoping to see 1 guy on defense make a play and it make me say “Whoa, where did that come from?”

I will need to see it to believe it as far as run blocking goes. I know our line is great and all however, the run blocking struggled at times last season.

Difference maker vs usc

LSU defense establishing a decent pass rush and pressuring their first-year starting QB into mistakes/taking some pressure off the secondary. Both offenses are going to score plenty. But if LSU can force a couple picks, it would probably be the difference in the game to get the W.

Honestly, I would expect Mason Taylor and Chris Hilton to be the difference maker this game.

However, if we are able to run the ball with ease then it will be a long day for that USC defense because there are going to be plenty of opportunities for big plays in the passing game.

I was in DFW when Honey Badger literally stole the game away from Oregon. It was absolutely glorious.

I'll be in LV to watch Perkins totally change the game in our favor vs USC. It will be absolutely glorious.

I’m expecting a Jeremy Hill-like season from Kaleb.

I hopefully agree, and I hope that strength makes LSU have the best play action passing game in college football.

Run game will create passing opportunities. We can be a very balanced team this year. I hope Sloan calls it that way.

USC dline is much improved so I don’t think LSU necessarily runs all over them.

From what I’ve read their oline is meh, so I’ll say Womack and Reliford have a day.

Starters: Anthony Lucas (Jr.), Nate Clifton (R-Sr.), Bear Alexander (Jr.), Jamil Muhammad (R-Sr.)
Backups: Braylan Shelby (So.), Elijah Hughes (So.), Kobe Pepe (R-Sr.), Sam Greene (R-Fr.)

Lincoln Riley said USC needs help here and so far — even though the program has tried — it’s done little to address the issue through the spring portal window.

Alexander is a stud but everything else in this group has questions. Clifton was productive for a bad Vanderbilt team last season. How will that translate to the Trojans and the Big Ten? Can Lucas unlock his potential and stay on the field after falling out of the rotation last season? Muhammad started strong last year but had an extremely quiet second half. Can he bounce back and be consistently productive for a full season?

The Athletic

Kaleb Jackson and the offensive line is going to eat. USC's LBs are not great either. I think the LSU TEs are too much of a mismatch and will be targeted a lot. Give me Taylor on offense and Perkins on defense as difference makers.

What an odd world LSU football is relative to the Miles era. We are now looking forward to a run game not generated by a QB. We have multiple Heisman QB's on the walls of the football facility and we have the best QB in the country lined up to play for us. What a time to be alive! (aside from the economy and the whole political arena)
