All year long, the Saints fans have been LOUD...the whole game. If the defense gave up a big play, then they just cheered louder the next play. If the Saints got behind, they just picked up the enthusiasm.
It wasn't that long ago that LSU fans were like this. In 2003 Tiger Stadium was something to fear... 6 years and two championships later, and the fanbase has become spoiled. If the Saints win two Superbowls in the next 5 years, the fans might change.
ETA: I do think the Tigers are underachieving, but I am talking about this new found sense of entitlement within the fanbase.

Its the apathy with the Head man. Kinda like Saints fans pissed at Benson.

Im more of a fan of the college game than pro.
With the pros I like certian players moreso than certain teams.
Yest at times, I found myself rooting for Brett Farve more than than New Orleans.
Ive been to several saitns games and for me its all anti-climatic compared to what goes on 60 miles up the road the day and night before.

Another mind blowing statement. OK, ready? Louisiana State University. New Orleans Saints Football team. Anything?

Almost all Saints fans are into the game for almost the entire game.
In my section at LSU, not so much. In fact, people are pretty quiet. Cheer for a touchdown but really don't make noise like in the Dome. It hasn't always been that way.

Ok ...try hard to not let your mind get blown... Im not saying it was wrong for SP to say that.
But dont be one of these fans that tries put LSU and Saints on same level based on winning a championship.
And there are PLENTY people that think this.

Lots of combo LSU and Saint die-hards. The Saint nation extends heavy into Mississippi and into the FL pan-handle also.

BUT, if the saints win the super bowl, the ranterds will be calling for peyton to be fired so that we can get a better coach.
you have to remember that this is a rant board, nothing positive if you can help it.

In my opinion this is the biggest difference. If you listen to LSU talk radio everyone calls in with a sort of righteous rage to complain about something hyperspecific. "How could Crowton have called an outside stretch with zone blocking on that 3rd and 2 in the second quarter! Everyone knows you should run an inside zone stretch in that situation!"
Saints fans mostly want to be heard on the radio. "HEY BOBBY THIS IS TOMMY FROM KENNA AND I JUST WANT TO SAY WHO DAT! WE LOVE YOU DREW!"

to balance the confusion... they should have to be called the Louisiana Saints since we the taxpayers of the whole state, not just New Orleans, have to pay Benson's ransom notes every 5 years. Most NFL franchises get funding from just the city taxes, but Benson makes the whole state pay so they should be called the Louisiana Saints

Funny you said that when last year there were fans calling for Peyton's head. They must've been tiger fans, because Saints fans cheer the whole game and never boo.

I personally know a lot of Saints fans who live in Mississippi and Alabama. Easy to understand why many of them are not LSU fans. Same goes for Louisana with 8 or 9 other college football teams in the state. Also know many of the LSU fans who've moved all over the country and now root for whatever NFL team they live in close proximity to. It's only natural.

I always felt like the really passionate pro football fans are the folks that didn't go to college.
I've never understood how someone could support a professional sports team over the school that they attended.

Fwiw, at one point last night the saints ran the ball a few times in a row late in the game and the crowd boo'ed.

In my experience, they're are many more LSU fans that don't pull for the Saints then there are Saints fans that don't pull for LSU.
My older brother is a diehard LSU fan and hates the Saints with a passion.
i love 'em both.

Yep, same for those living in Arkansas & those in Tennessee who were Saints fans before Nashville got the Oilers/Titans.

LSU is primarily Louisiana's team, but Saints fans are throughout the South.
Been in N. Tejas 25 years, but have NEVER been a Cowboys fan. Can tolerate the Texans, but will always be a Saints fan wherever I go.
