Oh frick...this shite, again?

This has to be the 50th post of the same title and same subject matter. This board...it's like the groundhog day of bumps.

Right, right, we get it. All the blind arse Miles supporters cite the MNC last year, the recruiting class this year, and the fact that he made just one really bad decision regarding hiring. The negatigers will cite the era that Saban took over, the overall rise of the program into national dominance, and the downward spiral in discpline, play, and prestige of the program since Miles took over. Both sides will cite equal amounts of injury and loss of prior-year players to the draft.

My own two cents...as much as I hate the guy, there wouldn't be a Tigerdroppings.com if not for Saban, and if there was, you wouldn't be a member.

But please, no more reminders of the 5 loss '02 season. Some of us were fans that year and recall it quite well.

Yes it takes a special coach to take a national champ to 7-5 the next year.

If not for an offensive pass interference call against Troy and a 250 yard rushing performance by Alley Broussard against Ole Miss, The Great Saban would have been 7-5 a year after the national champ.

And in 02, if not for the Bluegrass Miracle, he would have been 7-6.

Don't forget the Extra Point Genie in Game One vs Oregon State that year.

If not for an epic second half meltdown by Troy and a five point win over the worst Auburn team in a decade, Less Miles would have gone 5-7 overall and 2-6 in conference, a year after winning the national championship.

We can do "ifs" all day long....

The Miracle on Markham sorta evened that out, but that's technically correct....Saban had some awesome games and great performances and some absolutely horrid ones too. Not quite sure why some people have forgotten or made up some lame excuses for them. Saban brought us to greatness but he had some horrible decisions along the way. He has really acheived "God-like" status to some.

If you hired Les Miles in 2000, you wouldn't be where you are right now.

That's my "if."

And here is mine

If Saban had not won an SEC championship in his SECOND year we would have gotten really antsy.

Thank goodness he is in Tuscaloosa where people don't care about those sort of things.....

Both coaches were dangerously close to 5-7 the year after the NC. There is no reason to continously bash Miles for going 7-5 a year after the NC.

No, some fans know the difference between building a program, after twenty years of mediocrity, and maintaining a program after it has been handed to you. I hope Miles can right the ship for the sake of all LSU fans.
The endless bashing of Saban will not rescue our program. You guys have been whistling past the graveyard ever since Saban was hired at Bama. The ridiculous assertions and recycling of every loss by LSU when coached by Saban has not slowed down his success in Tuscaloosa. Miles has to coach the guys he recruited to championship level to shut up the doubters.

,,,and IF you gumps hadn't had such a cheesecake/easy arse schedule this year, catching LSU and Auburn in reload mode, Tennessee down at the end of Phils tenure, a VERY overated Georgia and Clemson and a bunch of other NOBODYS, then you wouldn't have made it NEARLY as far as you did without loosing!

When you're dominant, you make games look easy, and opposing teams weak...

You really do live in a fantasy world over there!

Is the lawnmower that Forrest rode placed prominently by the statue of the "Bear"?

know he is a great coach, my point is miles has had a much better run until this year and he is seen as mediocre coach while saban is the best coach ever!!!!!
For the last freaking time. Saban instilled confidence in the program, whether he was going 9-3 or 13-1. That's the damn point. He was in control, it's perception, whether right or wrong. I don't know what people on here don't understand about this. Miles is percieved nationally as a bumbling, lucky, in the right place at the right time coach. And he does nothing to improve his national image, he almost revels in it, not trying to improve it in any way, so people formulate their own opinions.

Saban is percieved as a defensive genius, a control freak, and a taskmaster (somewhat of a prick), but he is respected by coaches and players, the media fears him, and he he produces results.

Both of them can have the exact same records, but Saban gets more respect because of better perception from the outside world. It's really not much more complicated than that. It's not about their coaching records.

No. Saban never won an MNC. Neither has Miles.

They won the BCS NC. Nothing "M" about it.
