This. The call on the field was a catch, you'd need clear video evidence that the ball wasn't in his possession by the time his right foot left the ground.
For everyone else. Pause the video where you feel his right foot left the ground (should be right at 8:14, #18's left hand should be right above Doucet's hip). He has two hands on the ball, and its against his body.

Still one of the most impressive throws I've ever seen. On the move, corner of the end zone with perfect accuracy.

What a lot people don't realuze is how difficult it was to have pack up and travel to Arizona. When you think about what the team had to endure in that game and all season due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, it is amazing what they accomplished that year. It was Miles's best coaching job at LSU-the 2005 season

But as long as LSU won.... It doesn't matter.......
Yep. We all know that the refs only cheat for Bama.

That throw from JaMarcus was absolutely, unbelievably, fricking ridiculous. 40 something yards, middle of the field, across the body, to the corner of the endzone. Just fricking sick.

Can you imagine the gut punch it would've been to the team and the entire state to go from the high of the win to the low of the loss if that was reversed? Damn
No I cannot. Because with the degree of celebration that was going on in my living room immediately upon that catch I may have literally broken down and cried at a reversal.
As I was celebrating I saw out the corner of my eye a buddy of mine, who was not a huge LSU fan by any means mind you, doing the Dave Chappelle robot guy across the entire living room. It was pure elation.

That was a 7-5 ASU team by the way. I know LSU had an extreme, unfortunate circumstance with Katrina, but could you image the heat Miles would have faced if they didn't call that a catch and to lose the following week against Tennessee?
Yup
Although that was still a tough ASU team. Played USC hard too that year if I recall. USC didn't blow them out either.

It's been so long it seems since an LSU QB could hit a 15 yard route in the middle of the field. Watch some of these Jamarcus passes and it's mind blowing what LSU used to have.

I legit thought Jamarcus was going to be a starting NFL QB with a steady career. He had the God given talent, just didn't have the discipline. A damn shame.

On the LSU/Auburn game this year, they got it right too. With one second left and the ball startng on the ready, you can never legally get the snap off because the ball can not be napped until the ready for play signal has been completed. That takes a full second. You need two full seconds to get a snap off when it starts on the ready. Now had the the pass before that play been incomplete, then the play would have started on the snap and it would have been a touchdown and LSU wins.
In the LSU/Ole Miss game of 2009, there was a situation at the end of the game where Jordan Jefferson completes pass to Terrance Tolliver down to the 8 yard line and there is one second left and again there is no way that LSU can win the game and the clock starts on the ready for play. Hence, they lose, 24-22. Jefferson spiked the ball, but in actuality, there was never a legal snap. Again, they would have needed two seconds to snap the ball and get a play off because the the play was ended up in bounds. Had there been 3 seconds left, then they could have spiked the ball and had time to run out field goal team because the clock is stopped. Where LSU screwed up was because they let 1 seconds run off the clock before calling their last time out. Had that not happened, there would have been ample time for LSU to score and wn the game.

I was in SunDevil Stadium for that moment. I had gotten totally obliterated the night before at the Big Bang on Mill Avenue in Tempe and was nursing an epic hangover. Good memories.
In many ways, that evening encapsulated what was to come under Miles. A game against an overmatched foe that was closer than it should have been, but ended in a thrilling comeback victory driven by some improbable kick blocks and a perfectly thrown fourth down pass.
JaMarcus squandered so much talent with his laziness and drug use. Saddens me now.

There was definitely a higher power at work that day. The two blocked kicks for scores, that's something that just doesn't happen.

The new rule sucks. If you have possession and your foot touches the ground it should be a catch.

Replay was in effect for that game, that was the first year for the SEC & PAC-10.

It was not a catch… But thank God for the call, I was at that game and the ASU fans were insufferable

Yes. That was not a catch. I thought this was common knowledge.
