I do know what he meant because he specifically mentioned "enlarged heart"
Do you not think that maybe he misspoke and meant heart issues as a whole before your race baiting bs took over?

No, I do not, because an enlarged heart is very different from heart disease caused by high cholesterol. I have cardiomyopathy myself so when I see the words "enlarged heart" I immediately think of cardiomyopathy instead of any of the other types of heart problems. Words have meaning.

WTF? I am not the one who brought race into this

quote:ignorant? Seriously?
There are tons of different types of heart issues and to just give a blanket statement that if a black guy dies of heart problems, it's probably because he was black is just as ignorant as saying that enlarged heart problems are more prevalent in black guys
Black, white, green, or blue, there’s nothing ignorant about mortality facts.

Are we all still pretending like the vaccine didn't kill a ton of people with negative side effects?

You are a clown. Race has nothing to do with it. You sound like a POS.

Post a stat that shows me enlarged hearts are statistically more likely to be found in black men, you fricking asshat.
Umm
quote:
Yes, Black men are more likely to have left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) than white men. LVH is an enlargement of the left ventricle of the heart that's associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes and higher mortality. According to a 2005 study, Black people have a 2–3 times higher prevalence of LVH than white people, even when adjusting for body composition.

Don’t want to go into detail but he had demons and his body finally gave out. He didn’t die due to heart issues

My best friend growing up, Okechi Womedou(easy to guess the race) died of this. Thought it was common knowledge it’s most prevalent in black youth
RIP Ketch
quote:
The junior tennis community was stunned to learn that Okechi Womeodu collapsed and died on November 10, 2004 during an indoor soccer game in his hometown of Memphis. A vibrant young man, Okechi was always ready with a smile; his considerable tennis talent never isolated him from others, indeed he combined it with his personality to draw others to him. In our overwhelming sense of loss, there is comfort in knowing he had recently achieved one of his goals, playing in the U.S. Open. This photo, taken during his doubles match, captured his attitude of playing hard but enjoying the game. His legacy is that spirit.
RIP Ketch

Sudden cardiac death
(SCA) is the most common medical cause of death for college athletes, and Black athletes are more likely to die from it than white athletes. According to a 2023 American Heart Association study, Black athletes are three times more likely to die from sudden cardiac death than white athletes, with a rate of 1 in 26,704 compared to 1 in 74,581. Male athletes are also more likely to experience sudden cardiac death than female athletes, with a rate of 1 in 43,348 compared to 1 in 164,504.
The main cause of sudden cardiac death is a loss of heart rhythm, which causes the heart to quiver instead of pumping blood. This is called ventricular fibrillation. Some say that Black athletes may be at higher risk due to genetics, lifestyle, or the sport they play. Basketball players, especially Black male athletes, are at the highest risk, with a rate of over 1 in 2,000 over a four-year career.
To guess that Rahim Alem died from a probable heart condition would seem to me to be reasonable assumption.

The point is that it is kind of weird, general, and stupid to just throw it out there.
You reacted to the word 'black'. God save us if he was hispanic and said 'negro'

SMH at everyone a trying to make this into a thread about racism. Looking at everything through that lens is no way to live, friends.
Posted on 8/15/24 at 8:04 am to Recoveringcajun
So does anyone know what happened that caused him to die so young?
Posted on 8/15/24 at 8:52 am to Recoveringcajun
it really is what is wrong with this entire country. People just looking for racism and reasons to be offended. I guess it would be racist to say that the #1 cause of death in young black males is actually interpersonal violence. SMH. Medical statistics and health related issues do most certainly pertain to culture and ethnicity. To say otherwise or paint that as racist is the height of ignorance and race baiting at its purist form. FFS Bottome line that guy was a tiger and he died way way too young. RIP Rahem Alem
