Did Mainieri’s demeanor give you any confidence about the outcome of this year?

It seemed multiple times he said they would raise the national championship trophy in so many words.

I realize he’s just saying it and he has to go and do it, but does his confidence in this team change your opinion on what this team can do?

I feel like he says that almost every year. Every team since 2008 that he's had was capable. Just a matter of getting it done that hasn't happened but 2 years (I'm counting 2017) in PM's tenure.

Mainieri tells it like it is. Today, he flat out said one of the lefties wasn’t good and they haven’t decided if they’ll keep him on the team.

He basically said no one was consistent during fall ball which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

I assume he's referring to the walk on. That part wasn't reported on by anyone, which is why I like to go back and watch the PCs for myself to get context.

I feel he is somewhat on a "warm" seat. He has 2 years IMO.

Woody is looking at Trophy's and expecting nothing less or at least with the expectation of competing for them in all sports.

Yea that’s who he was talking about.

Said he didn’t have a good fall at all and while he’s shown some improvement they’re not sure if they’re going to keep him

He knows how good they'll be just as much as any of us do. It's baseball

Is this who was expected to take Abendorth's spot?

Yeah. Lagarrigue (sp) is the last name.

They also had another LHP walk on throwing in the fall, whose grandfather posts on this board. He's a big ole kid and was touching upper 80s. I thought he had a shot, but he was cut before the end of fall.

Do they have someone to bring in, if he's cut? Or will they roll with 34?

My guess is they'll roll with 34.

I know they are looking at a grad transfer from Texas Tech, but I believe he's not available until after this semester.

And just from an enrollment standpoint I think it's too late to bring in a JUCO guy.

ETA: They also had the Burnett kid from California that was there in the fall too, but dropped off the roster a while back. He seemed to be throwing softer than the two walk ons.

More false promises, expecting disappointment so anything better will be a pleasant surprise

CPM is extremely honest and tells it like it is. He also gets a lot of flack for it on this board with the dreaded “throws a kid under the bus” tag line when he is just calling it how it happened.

So true. When a coach keeps things a secret everyone wants to know what’s going on. When he tell it like it is he’s throwing a kid under the bus. No pleasing a tiger fan

The Les Miles of tiger baseball. This was the greatest team in college baseball. This guy is destroying it a slow death. Just like miles. Needs to go.

No kidding. Mainieri has always been honest about his teams and every year a few cry baby fans come on and complain he's throwing kids under the bus. It's like clockwork similar to fans wanting him fired mid season for while he's working on his lineup and rotation during OOC games and dropping a couple mid-week games. Then they're back to cheering as we win the SEC.
