The head coach is hired to win. Who cares how he does it.

Ok, but is that all you should do? Why are we under the assumption that any other coaching hire we made would automatically mean sub-par assistants? At a school with the resources of LSU, this should have never been an either/or discussion. We absolutely could have had a coach that is both a strong staff manager and a strong football

I don't know that Coach O isn't a strong football mind. I do know that in everything in life, most often the most successful people are those who hire well and give their hires the tools and freedom to be successful. It's as true in Football as it is in everything else. We have arse loads of talent in this state, and he's an incredible recruiter. We don't need him to be Saban. What we need is for him to let people be successful and facilitate that through strong leadership.

Mostly sensible statement, minus one big factor. Miles was not willing to hire and empower a strong OC, but Coach O is.

Apparently you don't. The head coach should be better than the assistants. Assistants are temporary. If we reply on the coordinators to carry the head coach, we are fricked.

Yes because you certainly do, as I said that is the new argument for people. It has replaced the old standard of "you don't understand football, do you?" That people use to go with.

No, Miles didn't have a big binder!

I just don't see any evidence to indicate that he'll be better at doing this than Herman/Jimbo (or any of the other second tier options that have been floated for that matter)
