Try sitting in the stands for those incessant commercial timeouts in the 90-degree heat. It was brutal.

The commercials are ridiculous and make it very hard to stay engaged. You’d think the advertisers would also be pissed that people are overloaded to the point that they’re on their phones and doing other things as you hit commercial break #3 in a 10 minute span

For me there were no commercials instead, it was a “ESPN studio” with this loud swooshing sound and ambient noises of people walking in and out of the room and shite. After drinking and smoking all day that shite was putting me to sleep

That was the oddest thing I’ve seen in a while. WTF was that? At one point I thought I had selected some alternate broadcast so I went back and double checked that I was indeed on the right channel.

Weird and annoying as frick!

It was also advertising shite from July... Like NBA summer league coming up... It was weird and not cool

The larger the tv contract the more commercials

When I was in graduate school at LSU, I started almost two decades ago, the CBS afternoon games were like 4.5 hours. They had TV commercials after every touchdown and ensuing kickoff. Also, the clock used to stop a lot more back then. Still yet, games today are 3.5-4 hours. It is just dumb. Let the kids play.

My 3yo told me multiple times that it was storming because of the whooshing sound. I told him it was just the TV.

Even this morning he said it stormed.

It’s bone dry here.

Watching on YouTube is a problem, too. In the middle of plays, the screen is reduced and commercials play.

Yep, but it allowed a pouring of another drink and getting rid of the last one.

My 4 year old kept telling me it was storming outside. My dog, who hates storms, was terrified lol

Was so strange

ESPN and their ilk have commercialized the enjoyment almost completely out of watching football - either in the stadium or on-screen at home. So I tend to follow games of interest on TD or other football apps.
