Did anyone else have the thought during 1/9/12 that the only way we'll win it is D/ST TD?

Just remember at halftime and post half thinking the only way LSU wins this game is a defense or special teams touchdown. I had more faith in the Defense and Special Teams to score a TD than the offense. The look on JJ face after the pitch pick. It reminds me of Lebron's face after JR Smith took an offensive rebound to halfcourt with 4 seconds left in the NBA Finals Warriors game. Almost an anger-panic face.

We don’t beat Arkansas or Georgia that year without special teams. It’s kind of all we had to hang our hats in as far as scoring went towards the end of the season

I went with a buddy. We literally had to keep elbowing each other just to stay awake. Dullest LSU victory I’ve ever witnessed.

Well, I had a game the previous season during the Independence Bowl and I missed that first bowl game under Dinardo entirely so I was very keen to see this game.

If you look at 2011 this was a recurring theme, from WV to UGA in the SECCG. Yes I was 100% hoping for a D/ST TD b/c without those we were pretty ugly in big games

We called it a complete team. But really that just meant DST and especially TM7 saved our asses pretty much all year.

WV was flipping momentum and was down 6 until Claiborne's KR TD
WV didn't score again. The KRTD completely flipped the momentum

Too early to tell, but I doubt it.
2011 was so putrid on offense without momentum and teams getting worn out by the 3rd/4th.
That's why all Bama had to do was not turn it over, play it safe, and there was basically no way LSU had a chance. The gameplan was that simple and they dominated us.

Yup. I remember the exact moment I saw LSU was playing Alabama again. I said LSU isn’t winning and if they do it’ll be a pleasant surprise. I did not get upset one single time watching the game. The outcome was all but guaranteed.

Anyone else live to remind everyone that in fact those Gumps only scored one TD all game even though it appears to casuals that they got there 3 times? 5 field goals and a missed XP late TD you dumb pussies. That defense was heroic.

I remember thinking if we could hit one big play, Bama could crumble. They had "dominated" the game completely, but it was still only a 2 score game in the 4th. Bama fans talked shite afterwards, but it had to be terrifying to them that they couldn't separate when given the chance.
We've been on the other end of that, where the game seems completely one-sided but you don't pull away, then the other team finally comes to life and wins. I was praying for that (another Honey Badger miracle) all the way until they scored the late TD to go up by 3 scores.
