I don’t remember if it was in the pregame or during, but one of the commentators spoke about how Kiffin gives any potential portal transfer player a few tests. One is a character test. They said.” If they don’t pass the test, they are told they can leave.”
I thought this was interesting and a very good way to make sure the players gel and are good quality men. As usual Lane doesn’t leave things to chance.

One of them said he has the leverage to actually do that at LSU, whereas at Ole Piss, you don’t get the chance to be that selective.

They know it, we know it, Ole Piss knows it…

Imagine getting processed before even getting processed.

Yes, this is probably why we "missed" out on a few players. This a great thing to keep the knuckle heads away.

This kind of thing is another Bill Walsh invention. He had a sociologist come in and do an evaluation of his top players and then used the template developed from that to then compare it to their draft prospects. They did a personality profile on the prospects and compared it to the one developed from their key players (Montana, Rice, Craig, Lott, etc.) and used that in the draft process.

Happens a lot these days but in the 80s it was an innovation.

Holly Rowe talked about it early in the 4th.

Yea caught that,

Just another way that is showing we find the little details, we find the advantages in the margins like Lane said.

Also highlights why you come to LSU instead of staying at ole Miss. you can be more selective. It also shows Lane being absolutely brilliant in a chaos era because the players are paid he is treating them like professionals

I said it last night when they commented on how he went for it on 4th down a lot more at Ole Miss last year: of course he went for it more. It’s fricking Ole Miss. There was nothing to lose there.

I think they said they get graded on a few factors one of which is character. If they don’t make the grade, they can leave.

That sounds like they could be deficient in one area and still stay. But now that he gets a larger sample size at LSU, there’s probably enough players who pass all 3 tests.

I’d like to know what the grading criteria is for character.

He has talked a little bit about it, not so much the criteria but from a NIL perspective on how it’s important to make sure the kid can handle money and will not become lazy.

Also Sam Levitts daily routine is insane

I heard that, then remembered Saban saying "you can't coach bad players to be good".

I'd add that "bad" may only mean " bad for OUR team or system", and not a knock on their skills.

aTm found out that buying a bunch of "blue-chip/5-star" players doesn't guarantee success.

So screw the haters complaining about our roster costs. Lane paid for the best players when necessary, but the money wasn't the reason we dominated last night - he got the best players for HIS system and then coached then up.

Remind me again how much Michigan paid for Underwood? Think that money was well-spent if Wittingham doesn't build the right team around him and coach them up right?

That’s a good comparison. We almost had a bad character QB, but his character is why he left. BK unintentionally watched Underwood fail the test out of LSU.
