Chopping block:
Sanford
Travinski - injury won’t be healed next year
Beloso

doubtful those guys are on the chopping block. All three of those guys have plenty of potential with better coaching and development

My thought process on those 3 are this:

Sanford- probably the least choppable as he did hit decently but he doesn’t do anything that wows you and he gonna be a junior so I was thinking maybe JJ would want that roster spot for someone he’d have more time with to develop.

Travinski- he’ll be out with injury all next season and I think it’s hard to save a roster spot for a guy who can’t contribute. I think he has a ton of potential so I hope he makes it but I’m not really confident.

Beloso- kind of the same thing with sanford but even less that sticks out for him as he’s slower and doesn’t actually have a position. I’m a Beloso fan so I’d LOVE for him to have a comeback and be a contributor as the DH next year. I’m just not confident that will happen.

I think between the draft, graduation, and transfer, you could see 15-17 guys off of this years roster.

I think George and Beck are the only 2 with exhausted eligibility

They are. There was potentially an outside shot at Beck getting another year, but I don't think he's pursuing it.

Also, if the keep the rule they originally put in place that allowed guys using their COVID year to not count against the limit, we could see someone like Braden Doughty stick around since he's not on scholly and wouldn't count against the 40 man limit.

Kaminer is already in the portal as a grad transfer, in case that was missed in the turnover thread.

Jaden hill
Braden Doughty
Brandon Kaminer
AJ Labas
Devin Fontenot
Jake Wyeth
Gavin Dugas

I guess Dugas could come back and Fontenot I guess is at least keeping the conversation open with his tweets, but I;m not counting on either to be back.

That's 12. Then you have guys like Hasty, Brady, Crandord, Safford, etc that may get walking papers.

He's not. He posted a fairwell to baseball thing on instagram/twitter a week or so ago.

I dont think you are far off, Bert. Whether they are forced out or seek transfer outright

a guy like Travinksi will have to redshirt or even take the year off with the team

Perhaps I am completely wrong (if so, I'm sure the Rant will tell me) but you kind of got a sense even the players had become apathetic towards Mainieri. Even after he announced his retirement you never got a really strong "win one for the Gipper" sense from the players.

I think it was time for "new blood" in the program anyway. But maybe the need was greater than we thought

Johnson is bringing Susac, Berry, and Davis with him to go along with Crews and Morgan.

In 2023 LSU will be the first team ever to have 5 guys in the lineup all go in the first round of the MLB draft.

If this does indeed happen, what would you say is the expectation from SW to keep his seat from getting hot? Too soon regardless of result? Omaha at least? Or does he have to win a championship if he has 5 first rounders? I know fans will hammer him if he has that kind of talent and nothing to show, but more talking from an AD perspective.

Edit: To simply, does building a team with that much talent that fast create more expectations?

LSU would have an absolutely loaded roster and making the title game in the next 2 years at minimum would be my expectation.

Yes, but I can't wait.

Susac's cousin was heading to Tucson next year, too. I'd take them both...yesterday.
