It's a private business in Florida and I have no problem with the first paragraph. Nick screwed the pooch after that.

Help me understand this logic. HT's is holding an "apology party" where half the profits go to LSU but where does the other half go .... into the pocket of the restaurant owner . He's holding an "apology party" where he expects LSU fans to still give him money. A start would be ALL proceeds go to LSU. So, they are actually hoping to possibly even profit off this if business is up 30%.

Plus, if there is a private party going on simply post a sign that says that.

On a side note, Harry T's is having a boogers and cum donation drive on UF's campus tonight.

100% of all profits going to LSU would be a start.

Been a while since I worked in the restaurant industry, but typically you would figure that your prices on the menu were reflective of 33% above food cost and labor.
That being said, if he is selling a $10 drink or plate, he has approximately $7.50 worth of ingredients and labor to make that plate, with a profit of $2.50. So if he is giving $5 from that plate to LSU and keeping $5 for himself, he is actually losing money.

I believe the question at hand is, "what is he doing with the profit" (i.e. the $2.50 referenced in your hypothetical)? If (If) he is giving half of the $2.50 to LSU (or $1.25) he is keeping the other $8.75 for himself. I'm not commenting on whether or not he should be keeping more or less for himself. I'm just clarifying the question of "why doesn't he give all $2.50 profit to LSU?"

Perhaps that was my mistake. I assumed that by "proceeds" he was refering to gross proceeds. Therefore, the 50% would mean $5 of the $10 plate. If he is meaning net proceeds, or "profit" then you are correct, it would be $1.25 of the $2.50 profit.
