He is still the most "exciting" receiver I remember seeing in Tiger Stadium.
I'd call it a tossup between him and Todd Kinchen. Every time Kinchen got the ball, you held your breath, because he was apt to take it to the house. I still remember that catch and run against Florida State in the rain.
Shep can be that kind of guy if we can get him the ball in space.

I have shed tears in grief over a loss as a young child as my dad led my past the indian mounds to the truck. Only a few years later I remember sitting on his shoulders and watching the band march down the hill and later that night high fiving strangers in celebration of a big win. I fondly remeber the feeling of being a part of a huge family as we tailgated in years following. In my teens I sat under a poncho with my date in a down pour until the last play of game we were losing by 21. I have driven into the belly of a hurricane to sit in that concrete bowl of intimidation becasue it was the only game I could be at that year. And I still get goosebumps when I hear those 4 sacred notes on game day regardless of my location.

My first game was the 77-0 Rice game when Carlos Carson caught 5 l-o-n-g touchdown passes from our current tight end coach Steve Ensminger and from David Woodley.
Over 700 yards of offense in the game.
Those were the days.

Beating a highly ranked Notre Dame team in Tiger Stadium on National TV which had not been scored on in a whole lot of quarters in I think 1970 or 71. Living in Texas I knew nothing about LSU or SEC football. My sophomore HS history teacher had just graduated from LSU and my family moved to NOLA just a few months later. LSU was my destiny.

B Money, I was a teammate of Todd's in HS and I was in TOTAL awe of him.
He was flat out amazing, he could stop on a dime and change direction like no white boy in history.

In '69 I was 10 and a family friend called the morning of the Tulane game and said his wife was not feeling well and invited me to attend the Tulane game with he and his son. My mother had me wear a tie, navy blue blazer, dress shoes; the works! After the game as we were leaving the South endzone I noticed the gates to the field were open and no guard. So I got permission and ran the entire 100 yards of the field in my dress clothes. Then a policeman yelled at me and told me to get off the field!
I was on cloud nine as we took the 1.5 hr ride home to Avoyelles Parish

Childhood was late 50's/early-mid 60's, so the only specific memories when I was younger, were of seeing the stadium lights in the distance as we were driving up to the campus and of trying to buy tickets outside Tiger Stadium.
The iconic defining image of LSU football for me was the Bert Jones to Brad Davis pass in the South Endzone against Ole Miss. Me and two high school buddies went to the game, but couldn't find three seats together. I was sitting real low on about the 5 yard line on the southern half of the West Side. They had seats in the SE corner of the South Endzone down low and had a birdseye view of the pass. Back then I was firmly buried in the "Obsessive/ Compulsive LSU Fan" mode. Remember well how pissed I was that we were about to lose that game, then the total exhiliration when we scored. Almost started crying after that Jones to Davis pass.
By that time I had quit playing high school football and of course, images of Tiger Band pre-game and halftime from back then were starting to take precident as something I might actually be able to participate in.
I also remember how good the field used to look ALL THE TIME, especially the field paint/
graphics. Vastly superior than the "3rd graders with cans of Krylon spray paint" look of today.
Just off the top of my head, players that stand out in memory were Bert Jones, Brad Davis, Gerald Kiegley, Terry Robiske, Mike Williams, Chris Dantin, Andy Hamilton, Tommy Casanova, Mike Anderson, Warren Capone, Tyler Lafauci, John Wood, Art Cantrelle and Joe LaBruzzo. (Who remembers that Cotton Bowl win over Arkansas in 66, ending their long winning steak?)......

Oranges on the field as the fog rolled in, beating Florida State 55-21 to get an Orange Bowl Invitation.
Eddie Fuller in the end zone in '88
The games against Notre Dame.
Walking up the ramps to every home night game!!
The Golden Band from Tiger Land playing those fantastic first four notes!!!!!!!
I'm getting chills just thinking about all of this!!

Losing to Miami of Ohio
I think it was the only loss that year other than the Orange Bowl or Sugar Bowl against Nebraska........

Kevin Faulk v. Houston 1996, great 4th quarter come back win and great individual performance with 74 yard punt return for a touchdown.

When I was a kid ( this will age me) VERY few LSU games were on TV. We listened on the Radio,
I listened to the Billy Cannon TD punt return against Old Miss on the radio. Think I was 8 or 9. Hard to remember back that far.

Tommy Casanova's punt returns. As a kid, I got to play tennis with him a few times at a park near his house and lived near his family and the high school he attended.

91 vandy. LSU sold mini footballs in or near the stadium then and some guy in the crowd with a cannon threw one of those on a rope and stuck one of the vandy o-lineman as he got set.

As a child, sitting in the rain Vs Miami.
But, when I think of a defining moment overall as a fan, I picture Kevin Faulk, dancing around and getting pumped up before fielding a kickoff or punt.
