re: Good article - good summary on recruiting

There is also a different article on the same site that gives a slightly different perspective. The truth about this class, as with all recruiting classes, will not be known for several years. It is important to be patient and wait and see. I remember how excited everyone was that we signed Russell Sheppard - and while he has been servicable, he has certainly not been a program changer. It is mostly the diamonds in the rough that have led to the success we have seen this year.

It's great to be a Tiger! The year didn't finish they way we wanted but it was an extra special year. SEC West, SEC Champ, played in the BCSNC, individual awards too numerous to list, 13-1 with one of the hardest rows to hoe in College Football History. And given all of that, in position to do it all again next year, with hopefully a better outcome at the end of the year!! What's not to love, if you are a true fan?

Great season that on the whole exceeded my expectations, Very disappointed in Monday's outcome but will never stop supporting this team and its players. I love the Tigers forever. Hopefully the events of monday makes the team and coaches come into next season with the fire and passion to never again allow a performance like this. Love Purple, Live Gold!!!!! :geauxtigers: :geauxtigers: :geauxtigers:

re: Why don't LSU players wear visors?
Posted by metalwood1 on 10/25/11 at 8:39 am to redwingtiger
Don't know why LSU players don't wear the eye shields but the NCAA does have a rule about what can be worn. It is Rule 1, Section 4, Article 6; Optional Equipment - part c. which reads:
"c. Eye shields. Eye shields must be clear, not tinted, and made from molded or
rigid material. No medical exceptions are allowed."

re: Share some of your experiences you had with your father

My dad is a minister, but a great LSU fan. We had a church function for the '72 Ole Miss game, but we were listening to the second half on the radio on the way home. That game got so exciting at the end he had to pull over by te Krispy Kreme on Plank Road to listen to the end of the game. When we scored we all were screaming and hollering in the car. The patrons of the doughnut shop were looking at us like we were idiots. That was a great memory.
We also were sitting in the stands in the North End Zone during the monsoon for Miami. That was the most miserable I have ever been for a football game, but my Dad would not leave until the end of the game. Another great memory.

re: DeAngelo Stopping on His Pass Route
Posted by metalwood1 on 11/22/10 at 3:24 pm to theunknownknight
This was not on the interception. It was on the pass that Delo was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for swinging at the Ole Miss defender who gave him an earful for being afraid to get hit. The funny thing is it looked like he would have had room to make a move after the catch without taking alot of punishment.
I had mentioned to my wife earlier, that while he has made a contribution and has caught some good passes, he doesn't seem to have a nose for the end zone, as evidenced by his stepping out of bounds vs. Alabama and two passes caught in the Ole Miss game where some Stevan Ridley effort would have probably produced touchdowns. We scored anyway, so no harm done, but would love to see him be a little tougher.

re: Which "Legendary Coach" is most Pro-LSU?

Looking at how they voted this past week, Bobby Bowden and Gene Stallings have LSU rated at #4. George Welsh and John Ralson have them at # 8. John Cooper and Frank Broyles have them at #7. Interesting that Cooper votes Wisconsin and Ohio State ahead of LSU while Broyles has Nebraska and Wisconsin ahead in in the 5 and 6 positions.

Based on the schedule and the statistics - Florida is not way better on offense, we have a decent chance in this game.

Interesting Stats for Florida through 5 games
Posted by metalwood1 on 10/6/10 at 2:44 pm
In reviewing statistics from Florida's first 5 games, their opponent has scored 1st in 4 of the 5. Only Kentucky did not score first against the gators so far this year.
Also of note, which may become a factor in our game Saturday, Florida has gone for it on 4th down in every game this year so far - 13 times, making it on 8 of those attempts. Against Miami of Ohio they went for it on 5 occasions, making it on 3 of the 5.
If you look at the statistics of Florida's games, they have not been playing like you would normally expect of Florida . We will very much have an opportunity to bring home a win on Saturday. We match up well statistically in most categories. It will be fun to watch. :geauxtigers:

I know alot of people say stats are for losers, but lets look at a few through this week's games:
Total Offense per game
LSU Fla
326.6 339.8 difference = -13 yds/gm
Rushing Offense per game
LSU Fla
195.6 151 difference = +44.6 yds/gm

Rushing Defense
LSU Fla
79 109.2 diff. = -30.2
Schedule
LSU Fla
UNC Miami(Ohio) advantage LSU
Vanderbilt USF Toss Up
Miss. St Tenn Toss UP
West Virginia Kentucky Toss Up
Tenn. Alabama advantage Fla (loss)
Even with all of the issues we have - which have been outlined ad nauseum, on paper this matchup is a good one for LSU, offenses are close, LSU defense is better - if we both achieve season averages this will be a very close game barring a colossal coaching screw-up (which with our staff is always a possibility). I prefer to be a Tiger fan and think we win this one in another close, ugly battle. :geauxtigers:

Uncalled for in this thread. There are a thousand other threads for this.
I love the walk across campus to the stadium.
Night games in Tiger Stadium.
Win or Lose, being a Tiger.
Eating at McDonalds before the game.
Parking in Kirby Smith lot.
Band coming down the hill.
The first four notes of Hold that Tiger
All of the the greats including but certainly not limited to Billy Cannon, Tommy Cassanova, Bert Jones, Charles Alexander, Dalton Hilliard, Gary James, Brady James, Eric Andolsec, Nacho Albergamo, Tommy Hodson, Eddie Fuller, Jacob Hester, Ben Wilkerson, Our current players.
The Golden Girls, the cheer leaders, Mike the Tiger. Hell I'm on a roll, I even love Toonces every now and then.

The Advocate did an article on him Sept. 15th. Asked him why, with his speed, he didn't start? He said something like his horizontal is fine but he needs to work on his vertical. Basically, "white men can't jump"
Would post a link but can't find it on the advocate's site.
