I wish this weren't the case bc he is such a great athlete, but the reality is he was going to have difficulty getting significant PT at either position.

I hate to lose Davis but wish him the very best. Hopefully he lands in a spot where he can get on the field more.

he proved to be a good rotational back late in the season.

No he didn't.

He appeared at RB in one game only and he cannot run with any of our current RB nor the 2 coming in.

Another of a long line of O's checkered busts based on his evaluations. Most of his later classes don't even exist on LSU's roster anymore. Signed 2 top 100 players in the country not positions players in the top 100. and both were busts at S. Great job O.

Y’all remember when it was a huge deal that he signed with LSU because everyone thought he might flip to Bama because Saban was recruiting him so hard, or did you forget about that? Is Saban an idiot too? Some of y’all are so fricking dramatic.

I was looking forward to seeing him with a full offseason at Running Back but cannot say I blame the kid for trying to find playing time elsewhere with 3 years remaining.

Really odd that we signed two top 5 safeties in 2021 (both top 100 nationally) with Davis and Ryan, and neither really seemed to live up to their recruiting rankings.

Ryan only played at Nickel to my knowledge. If he can rotate to safety I think that will benefit him. He had 2 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries this year if memory serves. Sage was a RS Freshman this year.

Not sure Davis saw the field enough to judge his performance. I suspect he is transferring to get more playing time.

Loyalty...??

Players have been at the mercy of coaches far too long. Tons of kids have rode the bench when they've been better than the starter. A coach loyal to upperclassmen or coaches preferring experience over talent and so forth.

The transfer portal kills all that. Its harder to stack talent now. LSU is losing kids to the portal but I don't see any coming in yet. Hopefully we start getting some commitments from recruits as well. There hasn't but much positive news in regards to LSU.

Kelly already knew this. That's why they gave him a couple carries just for fun and kept his redshirt. That kid probably already made his decision earlier.
