Uh, shouldn't an undefeated AU team have been in one of those championship game?
No.
quote:
Didn't OU pretty much get run over in all their championship game losses other than vs UF and played in a lesser conference than the SEC?
No. USC kicked the shite out of them. Throwing into the endzone to tie the game in the 4th is not getting run over. Yes, it's a lesser conference, but so what?

don't buy OU in the top 2 at all. USC, mmm, well, they have been tough for anyone to beat in big games.
I don't care where you rank them now. If they win this yr, they will be the team of the decade. Same for USC, LSU, Ohio State, FL, and probably TX.

Then shouldn't UAB disqualify us? Boise State was in a fricking BCS bowl.

USC there is a joke.
It's people like you who give LSU fans a bad name.
USC is 93-22 since 2000 (that is including a 5-7 2000 season and a 6-6 2001 season when Pete was rebuilding the program). Florida is 87-28, so USC has won 81% of its games, while UF has won 76%.
USC has two national championships, and regardless of how thick-skulled you want to be, they won a national championship in 2003. You cannot ignore the fact that USC was the #1 team in the polls and got left out of the championship game. Had the roles been reversed, you would be bitching about LSU having two titles.
USC's season by season results look like this:
2000 5-7
2001 6-6
2002 11-2 (Rose Bowl champs)
2003 12-1 (national championship, Rose Bowl champs)
2004 13-0 (consensus national champions)
2005 12-1 (runner-up)
2006 11-2 (Rose Bowl champs)
2007 11-2 (Rose Bowl champs)
2008 12-1 (Rose Bowl champs)
That's six BCS bowl wins and seven Pac-10 championships. Throw in their heisman trophy winners, 1st rounder draft picks, and All-Americans, and I cannot see how they are a "joke" at #1, aside from the fact that you feel insecure about LSU's place (which undoubtedly is the case).
If your argument is that USC plays in a weak conference, well, they dominate their conference, and the Pac-10 has been a better conference than the ACC, BigEast, and Big10 basically this entire decade, while they were as good or better than the Big12 about half the time (2007 being the last time). USC has played top 10 teams from the SEC this decade and has KILLED them. They murdered an Arkansas team in 2006 that we beat by 5 points (and no, Darren McFadden didn't make that big of a difference).
Hell, what about LSU? Why should UF be ahead of LSU at THIS point? LSU has more wins, a better win %, the same amount of national titles, the same amount of SECC's, and more BCS wins.
FWIW, I have no problem with people who want to run with the SEC > Pac-10 angle as to why UF/LSU should be ahead of USC, but ANYONE who suggests USC being #1 is a joke is a complete idiot, homer, or combination of the two.

1. USC
2. UF
3. LSU
4. OU
5. Texas
The only reason I'd edge out UF over LSU is because LSU had 2 losses in '07 with one being to Arky on the last game of the season.

Florida's 2007 record is probably the reason they're not #1.

All those 8 win seasons under Zook just shot them to the top of the board huh?
I think its a close call for #1 between USC and Florida. I would probably give the nod to Florida.
But either way, Zook's 8 win seasons are better than USC's 5-7 and 6-6 season. USC lost as many regular season in games in those 2 seasons as Zook did in 3

That's the correct list Chicken. Keep the high quality posts coming, and I may consider you for admin status.

I think its a close call. But Florida probably played a tougher schedule to get that 76%, has two undisputed/unshared titles, and never had a losing season.

This is the correct list!!! So FAR!!!!
I think so, Florida and LSU's 2 BCS titles has more merit than USC's 1 BCS and 1 AP. Take nothing away from the Trojans, but they also had a losing year this decade.

I have a tough time putting LSU over Florida objectively. I just don't see it:
1. Florida's two national titles were slightly better. Florida's were both undisputed with 1 loss. LSU lost 2 games to get their undisputed title.
2. LSU's 2002 and 2008 were just as bad as anything Zook put up.
