Denbrock admits to underestimating how talented defenses and coaches are in the SEC

In his news conference a day ago, Denbrock explained how he will prepare better for defenses in the SEC, implied that he knows now he has to help his offensive line more with chipping and changing protections because of the talented defensive players and coaches they have in the SEC. Denbrock admitted it was something he has learned from the past season.
Also Daniels explained that he is returning to LSU for two reasons. Because he knows areas where he needs to improve on, and he wants to win a national title. Like Burrow, Daniels admitted that he just loves playing football anywhere period, not just in this bowl game.

Or did he overestimate the talent of his players?

Will this be the first thread of 2023 where LSU fans shite all over their starting QB and offensive coordinator?

Also Denbrock and Kelly want to fit players to their scheme and not scheme for the best players... Luckly their scheme is good for 9 to 10 wins most years with LSU talent.

Please give examples.

quote:No. Probably just the QB. His play calling didn’t look bad when he had a QB willing to throw and give the receivers chances.

It was clear from watching games this season that Denbrock was surprised by the defenses he would face. The Tenn game was a perfect example with all of their stunting and blitz schemes. LSU offense looked unprepared for that!

I thought our offense looked pretty dang good for having a patchwork OL with 2 true freshmen starting, virtually zero running game from our RBs, and an extremely inconsistent passing game due to both the QB and pass catchers.
I also am happy to see that Denbrock is still learning as a coach and not happy with where he is. That's a great sign for the future.

These clowns will probably just bash the OC, since the QB bailed him out all year.
But, at least he admits some of his game plans and critical play calling, just werent good enough for this league.
Its refreshing to hear Denbrock admit this and he should be able to put his players in better situations in year 2. This conference just devours the coaches that arent mega talented and flexible.
LSU is the Move.

Unless they did something not shown all year on tape, you shouldn’t be surprised. Studying film should tell you what you need to know to draw up a game plan and scheme.

I mean admitting that you were underestimating your opponents all year isn't the best look. I am hopeful that he will improve on that next year. If someone on Orgeron's staff said that, he would get destroyed.

Of course, where do you think you are?

Daniels is returning because his draft stock sucks.
Wasn’t he projected as a late second or early third round selection?

Did Denbrock not learn anything from Bama in the playoffs last year? I hope it’s just “coach speak” and he’s avoiding critiquing players to the media.

It didn’t? He tried to run it on 4th down in Georgia territory, out of the shotgun, with Nuss at QB.
