Playbook is obviously important but just as important is reading defenses.

Knowing the complete playbook includes determining the defense to know what offense to counter it.

plus, he was tutored by tGOAT

Was he though? For most of the 2019 season, whenever the cameras panned over to him on the sidelines he was joking around and didn't look too involved. We will find out soon enough who has spent the most time learning the playbook and who has been goofing around shooting chicken finger commercials

I'm sure Myles is sipping coffee in the AM with the coaches. He's already graduated and going to work early like Burrow was his last year.

Yep, Brennan knows offense under Ed. This is an entirely new animal and he doesn't have some advantage over the other, more dynamic, QBs.

Brennan has has 7 different OCs and on his 3rd HC.

Gotta be Brennan, I couldn’t imagine how much insurance would cost on a 19 year old driving a Ferrari.

Agreed. Arm strength alone is not nearly enough.

the quarterback is controlling the keys to the Ferrari, and he can adjust it from time to time…we love to give him the freedom to do that if they earned it
said Les Miles NEVER.

This is what makes great QBs great... and the skills to execute. But the great ones outthink defenses IN CONJUNCTION with their playcaller.

And this is a big hint of where Denbrock's and CBK's mind is as far as naming a starter... this will be "a" top priority. The "best QB" will be defined by skills AND this; not just their physical skills.

My guess is Brennan on a very short leash

Maybe Daniels too. It's a new playbook for both, and they're both veterans.

JAYDEN was named scholar athlete of the month. Wouldn't rule him out. All indications are that he has put in the work and then some over the summer. Kid has a good head on his shoulders.

By all accounts, Jayden has been the one to put the most work in with his receivers and studying to learn the playbook. Yet he’s barely even mentioned in this thread. Seems a little strange

Brennan was in a pro style offense with Ensminger for a couple years. He probably has a better feel for this offense than the other two guys who have always played in spread offenses with very few reads

Just saying

I think most LSU fans will be very pleased with whomever wins the QB battle. Daniels has really worked hard to improve as have Nuss and Brennan. Will be a very interesting fall, would love to attend these upcoming scrimmages.

But there really isn't a metric or observation that enables fans to banter about those things until a starter is named - when the answer to those unknowns are finally known.

Which is why wasting time pondering over it is a waste of time, you'll know in a month and nothing you do before then is going to let you know before a month

Ummm, not so much.

When you take LSU's excellent wide receiver room into account, they are never going to start someone as terrible at passing as JD.
