Denbrock - LSU QB will need a deep understanding of LSU’s playbook to get keys to Ferrari

Reported by The Advocate. LSU’s OC Denbrock explained “we’re best offensively “ when the LSU quarterback has a deep understanding of the playbook, noting “We’re best offensively when the quarterback is controlling the keys to the Ferrari, and he can adjust it from time to time…we love to give him the freedom to do that if they earned it.”

That sounds like Brennan. He's been here since 1965 so he probably has the best understanding.

That's assuming that the offense doesn't change dramatically.

I think that's the thing we don't really talk about enough as a fan base. The job may not necessarily come down to the guy who has the best arm talent, or the best blend of arm and legs. But which guy can master the playbook the best, plus do those other things...obviously.

It's tough for fans to evaluate knowing the playbook and productive time spent in film room. But there really isn't a metric or observation that enables fans to banter about those things until a starter is named - when the answer to those unknowns are finally known.

It kind of puts them all in the same boat since they are all learning a new offense together. Maybe Brennan has the edge since he’s probably had to learn many different offenses over the decade he’s been here. Then Nuss is a coaches son so he could have knowledge other guys may not have been exposed to as often. Jaden has playing experience as well. Just depends on who masters the calls the best this fall.

As fans we only get to see that in week 1 on the field in real time. in reality, that's too late unless the staff made a mis-step in assessing the QBs.

As LSU fans, we are all too familiar with the let down of seeing the offense sputter due to below average QB play.

Fortunately, our QB situation is very different than in years past and our coach is a grown up without a sex scandal looming in the background.

We are going to skull drag FSU on Sept 4th and our long journey through the valley of darkness will finally be over. Death Valley will rise again in 2022 and I cannot F*cking wait.

Your Dad being a former NFL QB and current NFL QB Coach probably lends itself to learning playbooks pretty well

Sounds like Nuss. But I'm happy with whomever takes it.

THIS ISN'T A KNOCK ON BRENNAN. I repeat, THIS ISN'T A KNOCK ON BRENNAN.

I think it'll be harder for him to meet this expectation than Nuss. Myles has been here so long that complacency will be his biggest hurdle. Couple that with having a fiance and hobbies, this expectation may be harder for him to achieve.

After more than a decade ('18 and '19 excepted) of recruiting quarterbacks who could outclass high school competition with their legs but could barely get out of high school with their IQs, this is (if implemented) a breath of fresh air.

Maybe Daniels too. It's a new playbook for both, and they're both veterans.

I think the lights might still be a little too bright for Nuss.
