Playing weeks injured isn’t responding well? You’re almost as big of a frick stick as RickyDummy.

I think he’s referring to the physical response of his body. He healed really slowly.

The concern is that he is going to have a tough time coming back from this. Nothing to do with his heart or will to play.

Bingo, his body’s response is what I’m talking about. Look at Chassions recovery time and progression, it was pretty much as scheduled with him getting back to near full strength right on time. With Delpit and an even lesser injury he deteriorated during the season and even after rest he didn’t bounce back physically. Delpit is a speed player, he’s not a thick dense athlete and after this Achilles I’m very concerned for him.

Long term this injury may actually be a positive. An Achilles tear, while severe, isn’t a career ended. Even a rupture can be overcome. In short, a surgically repaired tendon may be stronger than prior to the injury.

Hope he gets to Dr. Glashow at HSS in New York ....one of the best specialists for Achilles repair in US. Dr. Voos whose there Team Orthopod is a great ACL/MCL repair guy but Glashow does lots of Achilles repairs on world class athletes.

Can we stop with this bullshite

No surgically repaired anything is ever as strong as a virgin joint/tendon/muscle/bone/ligament

Hate this for him. Achilles injuries are so tricky to recover from. Hope he gets back to 100% or as close to it as possible.

Torn Achilles and not ACL unless there is news of ACL tear also.

Having a high ankle sprain his junior season is a extremely hard injury to overcome and any athlete will be slow to recover while continuing to play through this type of injury.

Curious if the achilles is the same leg as the high ankle sprain.

I had a surgical repaired Achilles years ago and takes a lot of time with non weight bearing recovery but once completely healed good to go however every surgery has different outcomes and results.

There are a whole bunch of pitchers that have had Tommy John surgery that will disagree with you.

Outside of MAJOR trauma, an Achilles just doesn’t randomly tear. Prior to the year, there were likely micro-tears or even frays. Him having a “virgin tendon” at his age and repetitive strain (nagging lower leg injuries) is unlikely. In short, surgery could make his Achilles stronger than prior to the injury. In the current stage of medical advancement, this injury (while still bad) isn’t the career ended that it once was. Time will tell I suppose. Good luck to Delpit on a speedy (and full) recovery.
