Or a -2.

I wish Alabama’s AD would have been as big of a Billy Badass as Alleva and told Jimmy Sexton to F off back in 2006 while they were getting jerked around for a month.

Alleva was and is a total amateur.

First & foremost, Alleva was a joke of an AD & showed it in this coaching search & emphasized that fact with his “I am the search committee” comment. Sad thing about it is, if Coach O continues on this path of success, that clown faced asshat, Alleva, could have lucked himself into one of the best hires in LSU history & be associated with a legacy that he doesn’t deserve any association with.
I was never a Herman fan, I was Fisher all the way; I never thought Herman had the mentality to make it in the SEC. Would I have taken him over Coach O at the time? Yes. Would I take him today over Coach O? Hell no.

Correct. His camp was just pushing Texas to fire Strong

Alleva was terrible but in hindsight he did the right thing. I would not have wanted none of the coaches mentioned besides maybe leach.

If it makes you feel any better, the idiot immediately dismissed the best two candidates in the article.

What I’ve heard is that we could’ve had Fisher in November of 2015 for 6 mil a year. But once we kept Miles and shitted on Fisher, the price went up. LSU didn’t want to play it. Herman did what he did. We got O. I think O has been pretty good for a consolation prize. This year he could be REALLY good.

Nice read, but it basically confirms what most people already suspected.

I was happy we didn't get Jimbo. He handled the Jameis Winston situation poorly, and the price he was asking was ridiculous.

I liked Herman for the job, but I realized that once Texas came knocking, there was no way we were getting him. Alleva's stupid arse should have at least pumped up the price.

Also I applaud Alleva for telling Herman “frick You”

God I hope LSU crushed the arrogant a-hole in Austin.

Good read. But Coach O IS the right fit, IMHO.

Leach was interested in the job. I think that would have been an outstanding fit.

I would hate for that a-hole to represent LSU.

Think of the names on that list: Fedora (failure), Fleck (jury is still out at Minnesota), MacIntyre (canned at CU). Others wanted Fuentes (bleh). There were NO sure fire winners.
Despite Orgeron's mistake with Canada, he seems to be mplementing the plan he presented.
As a reminder, no one thought Les Miles was a home run. Most folks were extremely disappointed in the hire.
Coaching searches are a crap shoot. Look at Chip Kelly. Everyone wanted that dude but he is a long way from turning UCLA around.
No one banged down the door at Tennessee, Texas or Florida when their jobs came open. Hell, no one was banging down the door at Alabama before Saban.

Not unlike Joe Alleva, you didn’t mention or consider the best two coaches mentioned in the article.

The players should be pumped up to win this one for Ed.

If they bring what they brought against Georgia last year, this should be a knockout for the good guys.

Did anybody read that and think that Verge is still a little miffed about the whole thing and might be trying to slow burn it to the ground?

You keep saying this. Stop being so coy. Shaw and Kingsbury? Neither were serious candidates, and one if not both weren't even interested.

No, please read the article.

ETA: The two Alleva didn’t consider because of “fit”, in case I need to spell it out.

I guess you are talking about Mike Gundy and Kyle Whittingham. Quality coaches but nobody's idea of a homerun hire. Both have had multiple losing seasons and they have one combined Power 5 conference title between them.

Jesus that article is infuriating.

I say with all seriousness that I truly hope one day they rename the road behind Tiger Stadium as the Coach O Push-up Drive and have a statue of him out front with 10 crystal footballs. But that doesn’t change the outright skid mark that was Joe Allevas tenure as AD here.

If Woodward was here, Herman doesn’t say no. Or maybe he actually talks to Jimbo and gets shite done.

Again Ed may end up being one of LSUs greatest coaches and ambassadors and I truly hope he does. But Alleva can eat shite.
