Good point.

Don’t know what he would get moving forward but I can tell you from someone involved with baseball NIL that he (and most players) weren’t getting close to six figures
Yet the rant would have you believe that every college baseball player is a millionaire. There are many more players not making jack shite, and very very very few making 6 figures.

Key word, SOME. You said Herring is making 6 figures.

Perfect. It should be easy for you to post said evidence then. Specifically for Herring, who you said will make 6 figures.

What in the world does this have to do with a guy getting drafted and possibly going pro? Did you wake up this way or is it an everyday thing?

i hope he sees the strong possibility that being in the starting rotation next year and continuing to shine will put him in the 1st

Just saw him and Larson at the Cape last week. Took pictures with my kids and gave my son a signed SEC game ball. Great guys.

A reliever that throws low 90’s isn’t exactly top priority for MLB teams right now. Every reliever in the pros throws 97-100 now.
If he comes back and proves to be a successful starter that can regularly get to the 6th inning he can then possibly move into the big money.

Ask Zach Von Rosenburg how much of a sure thing the draft is.

Then post the players and the evidence to support it. Shouldn't be that hard

Huh. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Herring is not close to Hagar Smith.
Look at the stats this year. This is with Herring being a sophomore and Smith being a junior. Albeit, Smith was a starter and Herring was a reliever with one start but lets take a look at their stats
ERA
Smith 2.04
Herring 1.79
IP
Smith 84
Herring 50
Hits
Smith 41
Herring 39
Runs
Smith 22
Herring 13
Walks
Smith 34
Herring 13
WHIP
Smith 0.893
Herring 1.033 His Cape WHIP is 0.844 in 10 innings pitched
I am not saying that Herring, at this moment, is what Smith is but they are not that far off from each other. Herring was also used in pressure relief settings and I would argue that it’s a much more difficult position to be in as a pitcher vs starting the game.
I think Herring will be a MLB pitcher one day and, any team that drafts him, will probably get similar results that one would get with Smith. I believe Herring is that good. Therefore, he would be a steal for any team that takes him outside of the first round.

I think the point here is if someone calls Herring in the 4th round and tries to pay him 4th round money, he should not take it. At that point, that team would draft someone else. So he wouldn't technically be "drafted" in the 4th round. Similar to a guy like Cam Johnson being drafted in the 20th round.
I have no way of knowing if the OP actually works with a family member or if what he claims that family member said is accurate, but taking it at face value, it seems like Herring’s number matches 4th round money and they are waiting to see who, if anyone, will draft him at that price.

Well, I don’t think going to the transfer portal constantly is a recipe for a championship program. I think you can supplement from it. At the end of the day what kind of culture are you building?

And that has what to do with Griffin Herring's draft status? Is it your position that Herring leaving if he's drafted in the first few rounds is a knock on Johnson in some way?

Another year may move him up to the 1rst round. The money is way better there.
The minor leagues are reduced in teams and roster. It much more competitive than it used to be. Another year might keep him from languishing in AA for years with a high risk for injury.
