Venables at Clemson has been Top 5 2/3 last 3 years and Top 10 the other year...same as Aranda.
I mean, honestly not sure what you expect

This is gonna be the best defensive line we've had since we switched to the 3-4

Also we’re a very talented team but we have not had too 5 DL talent since Aranda got here.
Neither did wisconsin

I want The defense to improve but do you really think it’s all coaching?
No i think he hasn't had the typical LSU dlines we all remember...but he has had great LB and DB groups

wanting them to get better is all...you don't? Best Dc in the country + elite defensive talent should = a nastier defense than we have seen.

my point is Chavis was a great coach and fielded great units. He wasn't above reproach but Aranda is? that makes no sense to me. My biggest complaint about DA defense is lack of blitzing.
Chavis was way better here than at A&M and Arkansas, those years have not helped his reputation, when he left here, it was considered a huge coup, not a laughing stock. Again, generally speaking he fieled great units here, like always, there's some games you can nit pick about anyone, especially him spending 6 seasons here, but overall he did a great job here....so not sure why you think saying Aranda is "doing no better" is an insult or something.
We've been spoiled as a fanbase with great to elite defense basically every single year but the 1 Kevin Steele year the last decade. People knock Chavis a bit for 2013 (UGA game, Bama game) and we were just outside the Top 10 in defensive efficiency that 1 year but that's about the biggest knock on his career here.

Sure it woul;d be great to field a 2011 defense every year but what's the realistic chance of that happening? I'm very happy with Aranda here and he's had elite defenses each year. If he happens to have a ridiculous once a generation type defense here, then good for him but I'm not EXPECTING it each year.

Our Sack Leaders:
Delpit Safety 5
Divinity OLB 5
Logan DE 4.5
Lawrence DE 4.5
White MLB
Of our 34 sack 17.5 were by none DL. And that includes our BOLB as a DL.
Even Grantham at Florida who is pretty blitz happy didn’t have over half his Sacks generated by LBs and DBs.
The issue was how little push our DL got vs how much we blitzed. And how little pass rush we got from Chaisson’s replacements.

I don't...it's the truth is all

I agree but do you remember our fans and 3rd and Chavis? You would think he was a bum...we have basically had the same problem a few games with DA and nobody wants to mention it

If the offense were performing to the level of the defense, we would be in the playoffs every year.
Aranda's doing his job.

do you know for a fact that its not technique? Is it possible our dline is taught to absorb blockers and allow LB's and DB's to make plays?
With regards to blitzing he is not a blitzing style DC. With out DB's and lack of pass rush up front wouldn't you think he would take more chances?
I blame Saban because his philosophy is and always will be you must effect the QB

That's like saying "Saban is no better now than he was 5 years ago"...I mean, uhhh, sure? What does that even mean though?

Things stick with guys forever because they just do sometimes, but again, not sure why anyone would be upset with Chavis' tenure overall here. Elite defense after elite defense pretty much outside the aforementioned 1 year I pointed out where we had a couple games the defense struggled in.
I'm not sure what "problem" you are trying to point out with Aranda. Again, elite defense all 3 years here, 1 7 OT game that is a statistical anomaly for obvious reasons. A couple other so so performances but again, every DC has a few of those under their belt.

Lawrence had 10.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks this past season

You really don't remember the abuse Chavis received while here?

Most of the "Abuse" he got was after he spurned us for A&M. Yes, at times people got upset (ex. given in 2013 UGA/Bama games) but you're acting like Chavis was just another guy or mediocre here or something. Overall he did a great job. His career took a turn for the worse when he left here and had some mediocre performances at A&M and a flat out bad one at Arkansas last season.

People keep staying that but he hasn’t run a traditional 2 gap 3-4.
We want our DEs to attack. We definitely want our BOLB to attack.
They just haven’t been great at getting to the QB.
Plus I just Showed you how much pressure we’re generating with DBs and Lbs. We had more sacks by NON-Front 4 players than Clemson.
Idk what else you wanna see. Can you find me another Elite defense that generates most of their sacks outside their front 4?
Even a 3-4 defense?
You can cover 4 WR and blitz 8 and leaving your CBS with no over the top help is a huge risk.

25th in defense...#1 in salary. talk about lowering the
3rd in the sec opponents yards per play while being paired with an offense that was 80th in 3rd down conversion % for 11 weeks and 79th in punts per play for 11 weeks.
its glorious watching you bash a lsu coach that has proven to be elite while placing O above reproach while he has proven nothing except he can win at a rate the last coach was fired for.

When you ask the defense to win every game and you’re not undefeated it’s easy to point fingers at the defense.

We're a funny fanbase
The offense puts up 28-31 on an SEC team we're happy
The defense allows 28-31 against an SEC team and it's a horrific performance

Chryst is a great Defensive mind
And “stayed elite” =\= got better.
We replaced Saban with Pellini and “got better”
Who a better Defensive mind?

except they dont. our run defense just had the worst opponents ypc number in years and its direct reflection of our dline not commanding the attention of the oline. our lb corp's ability(white in general) to shed blockers cleaned up a lot of the mess the dline created.
