I'll take a break from my usual O Bashing to start an actual discussion thread (that will inevitably lead to some O bashing, I admit).

I think our front 7 will actually be pretty dangerous next season. What I'm worried about, and I never thought I'd say this with Raymond running DBs, is our secondary. We'll have Greedy and Fulton (unproven) on the outside with some solid safeties over the top. The problem is the slot.

If you recall, majority of the time, when the D was faced with 3 or 4 wide, Jackson would slide into the slot with Greedy and Toliver on the outside (sometimes they'd bring in Vincent to play the slot later in the season). One of the reasons for that is slot receivers tend to be smaller, shiftier route runners with good hands. I'm worried we don't have the depth at CB to be able to sacrifice the outside by putting Greedy or Fulton in the slot. This will become a huge issue when we play spread offenses. And even when we play pro-style as they'll just run 3 and 4 WR sets on us all day.

Bottom line, when we play teams that run spread or have 3-4 solid WRs to run 3-4 wide sets, we may be in trouble. I like to think Aranda is genius enough to work around and hide the deficiencies of his personnel, but it is worrisome.

Doesn’t matter. Ed Orgeron is the head coach

If Greedy even turns an ankle I’m really worried about CB. Surtain would’ve been playing right away opposite side.

I think you're right to be concerned. Presumably the plan would be Greedy and Fulton on outside and Vincent in slot. Hopefully Kirklin has developed nicely and Joseph can contribute quickly.

I think you’ll see Joseph and Vincent battle for the Nickle spot.

Why even play next season? We should just forfeit every game since O is HC right?

The line and linebackers will be solid. We need an outside pass rusher to emerge but there will be a better push in the middle with Fehoko, Lawrence, Alexander, Shelvin and crew. Orgeron needs to earn his money here.

Defensive backs will be lead by solid safety play. Lots of ballers there. We have one shut down corner, Greedy, and the other cornenrback is a little more foggy. Fulton Vincent Paris Kirklin (don't sleep on Kirklin - they are high on him)...

It will work out defense and a solid kicking game will keep us in most games

Everyone is gonna spread us out next year. Even if we played Navy...they would find 5 WRs and play them. It’s not gonna be a secret how to attack our D.
