I watched him for a bunch of plays Sat. Not impressed.
You are just wrong.

Valentine has played a great nose when he is fresh and a pretty good nose even when tired.

What do you think a nose guard is supposed to do?

A good nose is supposed to force double teams and hold him ground and that's what Valentine is doing. This defense will continue to improve. I went back and watched a bunch of Wisky games during Aranda's time there and I also have a buddy who played in what he says is the same system in college. From watching and listening to my buddy we haven't even scratched the surface yet.

I think he has played well, but simply gets winded easily. He admitted this after Wisky. He needs to get in aerobic shape. He is strong as an ox. Losing 20-25 lbs could not hurt and he would still be over 330.

Would be ideal if he could keep his weight up at around 340, get in shape in regards to endurance, and then use his size and speed to clog and push the middle of the line all game long.

He probably needs an off season to get there, but who knows. I'm not as high on Moffitt and the rest of them as I used to be.

It was clear Aranda was being very plain on D and a few instances in the JSU game he became a little creative with some blitz packages. He'll be adding more each and every game.

I am liking the defense so far. Donte Jackson got eager and it resulted in an easy TD for Jax State. He did what Aranda says is the team's main concern right now ... learn and trust the new defense, including your role in it. Let the other guys do their role. Donte had inside help on that play, I believe. I like his aggression, but you have to know if you have a safety or if you are the last line of defense on that play.

Either way, I was hoping it was a case of what Arden Key supposedly said this week: LSU defense has been pretty vanilla so far in order to make guys get used to their roles in the base formations. Now they can start adding some complexity.

Before the season, we were all kind of concerned about our LB group but I think they've played pretty well.

D-line looks pretty dominant and deep. I think Lawrence is going to be a BEAST!

Donte Jackson has gotten burned a couple times but I'm sure Aranda will fix that soon.

I'm kind of slightly disappointed in Toliver. He's not looking as salty as he was last year - I could be wrong though..

Tre White is looking amazing, that dude continues to improve every year. He'll be a nice DB in the NFL.

Think you missed my point. It takes a while for a guy that big to get into "elite" condition. You can run and practice all you want but it's not the same when you are in a constant battle like a game situation. He was late to the "game" obviously since he had other business to take care of first.

If he loses 20lbs and builds some stamina and more quickness. He's gonna be very very good

I can forgive busted plays, so long as our guys are being nice and aggressive, and so long as they don't cost us SEC games.

I hope the D starts attacking more, too...I'm sure Key is ready to do this a lot...he looks primed for sacks.

I think the D is the least of our worries...looks like rain this coming week...I think that DE will be the best QB on a wet field...hope TV can play more minutes each week...
