All LSU can do is offer the job. They can't force the coach to take it. The fact that they did take the job shows they viewed the LSU job as a better opportunity than their current employer. LSU did not have an obligation to wait until the time was right for Ole Miss to offer Kiffin the job. I don't recall anyone getting bent out of shape when UCLA and Florida did the EXACT SAME THING with coaches taking teams to the CFP. The media ignores that LSU was willing to allow Kiffin to coach in the CFP and actually DID allow assistant coaches, who had accepted offers to come to LSU, coach Ole Miss in the CFP. It was Ole Miss who put the ultimatum on Kiffin.
LSU didn't offer the basketball job to Wade while NC State was still in their season. The did so after...like every other program that has hired new HC's this season. Hell, BC hired Bill Murray's kid while he's still coaching UConn!
I understand NC State fans being mad because the school, in essence, got backed into a corner in having to make a new, late hire. But that is on their AD for not being prepared. LSU could not have been more transpartent in its intentions to try to hire Wade. LSU brought over the president from McNeese. It appointed a former Wade donor to the chair of the BOS. Over two weeks before Wade was hired a story broke that LSU was likely going to hire McNeese's AD. Any good AD would have seen the chess pieces aligning and prepared accordingly. Yet, evidently he, and a LOT of LSU fans too, failed to see the clear signs of the inevitable.
If you, NC State's AD, NC State fans, LSU fans, are "shocked" by the hire then that is on you for not paying attention.
