Just wanted to note for you guys that not only is the movie terrific, but there are multiple LSU references, and even some anti-Alabama talk. CSB, but worth noting.

haven't seen it and don't plan to. have read it is far from actual and feel it is just pushing the narative that BP is all to blame and making the characters (who also made many mistakes) out to be victims.

not trying to side with BP but i dislike it when hollywood spins shite to fit their narrative

I don't think they're trying to spin a narrative. I think they're just trying to make the most money possible and if that involves dramatacizing they'll do it. I promise you they care more about their bottom line than anything else.

Im talking about changing the story to hide a woman's flaws.

LINK

quote:

Also, a Transocean employee named Andrea Fleytas, who is portrayed in the movie by Gina Rodriguez, is shown fighting her boss to be able to sound a critical alarm when gas starts rushing into the area where the drilling crew was working. In fact, the real Andrea Fleytas testified before the Marine Board that she was overwhelmed by more than 10 magenta warning lights going off at once and failed to sound the general alarm when she had the authority to do so. “And as a result of not sounding the general alarm a minute to 90 seconds went by where men who were in places where there was methane gas in high concentrations stayed,” Bickford said. “And those places blew up and those men died.”

of course they wouldn't paint a woman in a bad light. Maybe I'm just an a-hole though

if only there were a certain board that people could post about movies and tv shows...

Maybe we could call that board the Movie/TV Board

I know people who were on the rig and judging from the trailers it is a comical farce of how the characters are portrayed

This is the wrong board, but I'd rather discuss this here than another thread about Tom Herman or Coach O getting a lifetime contract because he's a good ole boy.

I will say the set looked amazing by the photos I saw on the Movie/TV Board. 85% scale and looked pretty real. they did a good job there.

Cool. One of my former coworkers is an extra in the movie

They filmed one of the scenes at a heliport that I used to fly out of.
