On the flip side, if they do send highest seed or highest rank team, it helps that UVA is gone. In terms of teams in and the analysis, I was thinking both FSU and NC State are in. I'd think any team that is ranked consensus Top 25 is in. So I don't think of FSU as a bid stealer.

Just found a newspaper article that states highest seed advances if a 3-way tie in pod play. UVA is eliminated.

For some reason I totally missed FSU. They are certainly not a bid stealer. They are squarely in, and may host a regional. That makes me feel a little better.
Don't know why I missed that.

Well at least either Michigan or OSU is going home today and hopefully Indiana takes care of Illinois. Michigan/OSU could be for a tourney spot.
Hopefully Texas Tech and OU can send WVU and Kansas home too.

TCU is going to win that damn thing. They were such a weird team this season.

At this point, I think the Big 12 gets OU, OSU, TX, TT, and Baylor. Maybe TCU too.

But right now I have the ACC only getting 6 (FSU, NC State, Duke, Clemson, Louisville, & UNC). We need Pitt gone asap. With the west coast's weakness this year too, it may help give us the room to get LSU, Big 12 & Big 10 more space.
I think 4 PAC 12 are in and AZ and Cal are fighting at the very back of the bubble.

I don't think Cal is even on the bubble. Zona and Washington are contenders for the 4th spot. Washington beating Stanford might put them in. I don't think either deserve a spot honestly, but they likely get one or even both in for the west coast bias.

I think washington gets in and they do deserve it IMO

Why?
Washington 29-22 19-9 67 (RPI) 67 (SOS) 9-6 (Group 1 wins)

Their conference record and if they are in, then we are in

Their conference record
That's the only thing they have going for them.

Yeah. If that's what gets Washington in, LSU was in before the SECT started.
Winning the series this weekend would give Washington a stronger argument as well.

Yeah, its hard to argue against that conference record.

We jumped OSU on Warren Nolan...I guess CMU's win over Toledo was that important.

question... why is it in basketball conference records don't seem to matter to those teams on the bubble like they do in baseball????
Posted on 5/25/18 at 1:43 pm to chalmetteowl
My guess would be it is a smaller sample size both in conference and total games overall.

I think something should be said about the SEC West. I’ve heard about Kentucky the past few days and their tough schedule.
The west has 5 of the remaining 6 teams in the SEC tournament right now. Just sayin...

I have been thinking that for some time now, just didn't want to post it because I didn't know if I was just being a homer or not. I share the same feelings though.
No doubt, UGA, Vandy and UK are good teams. Florida is probably the best in the entire conference, but I think west is much deeper and more balanced.
I don't think Mizzou is good at all, and UT is garbage. UK only winning 13 games isn't impressive if what I think is true. Texas A&M's conference wins are more impressive. Same goes for LSU and Miss State.
The east had Mizzou and Tennessee to beat up on. The west only had Bama (I know there are some east vs west series, but I'm talking as a whole).
The conference tournament supports this argument. But all in all, its all a moot point. There are 11 really good baseball teams in the SEC.
