Not trying to pick a fight, but Brees and Manning don't put a lot of zip on the ball and are pretty effective. Much more so than most of these guys with "big arms". I'll take the more accurate guy all day. I could really care less who can throw the ball further on one knee.
you're an idiot. Brees throws over 52 mph which is a strong arm. I'm certain manning sits just above that. One of the strongest most freakish arms ever was Elway and he would hit 60 mph.

Drew Brees' arm strength is deceptive. Because of A)his delivery and B)he knows how to throw with touch.

Harris hasn't learned to throw with touch. And his accuracy problems stem from mechanics, which are all over the place. And that sometimes comes from over throwing. A QB isn't shite if they don't have that touch. See jordan Jefferson. Sometimes it can't even be taught. It's just natural instincts

Go back to draft day or his time in college and show me where anyone was raving over Brees' arm strength?

Of course the guy has a great arm, he's one of the most successful QBs ever. My point is that no one talks about his arm strength because he has many more attributes that are more valuable. Jennings has enough arm strength to get it done, and ultimately my point is that Harris better have much more than arm strength if he wants the starting job. And all I hear about around here is people hyping his arm strength. Just saying.

Oh so now we're going back and talking about brees in 2001? Quarterbacks can't make it in the league without a strong arm. Pat white could never consistently throw over 50 mph, look where he's at now.

I was surprised to hear Rasco say he's playing pain free for the 1st time since his early HS days.

So let me dumb it down for you a little more. Name one quarterback that has survived on arm strength alone?

I'm not saying Harris doesn't have any other great qualities. In my opinion he will develop into an excellent QB because he is a hard worker, a good listener, and has a great coaching staff. But to say he will take the starting job from Jennings is premature unless you can show me evidence of what he brings to the table AS OF TODAY, other than arm strength.

Do you even follow recruiting? Apparently not. BH lit up camp after camp on the national scene. Let's not forget his summer in California training under George Whitfield either….where Whitfield raved about him and compared him to the Heisman Trophy winner Jamieson.

Too bad is accuracy didn't. I don't give a shite how strong a guy's arm is if he can't hit is target.

This was my impression...

I agree that he was in a tough situation in the bowl game. The problem is that the high-schooler showed better decision making and composure in the spring game, and you can't blame that on a good defense, or a wet field, or being thrown into the fire for a bowl game.

I chalk it up to a bad day. From most reports during spring practice and scrimmages, Jennings was the best QB. Harris was the better guy in the spring game. The spring game is also just one of several spring scrimmages. I just can't wait to hear how their doing when they start scrimmaging in the Fall.

i know it's only day 2 of practices, but seeing dupre and how smooth he is, i think he starts opposite dural game 1

The guy who starts will be the best blocker who catches well and has good ball security.

You do know you can say all the same things about Jennings except the Whitfield praise right?

LINK

quote:

"Eighty-six quarterbacks were here from 19 states and 21 with D-I scholarship offers," Elite 11 coach (and ESPN analyst) Trent Dilfer told the group. "Everyone here impressed the coaches. This group was even more impressive than the one in Dallas a few weeks ago. It's a bottom-line business, and there is only gonna be one from this group. The MVP of the Atlanta regional and the bid to the Elite 11 goes to Anthony Jennings."

So they both come in with good credentials, they both have trained with Whitfield and Cam. Harris obviously has the bigger arm (an amazing one), but his athleticism isn't that much more that Jennings. Jennings, on the other hand, and yes it was from watching high achool tape, he just looks more accurate. We really won't know for sure until we get into a real game, but both have the tools and coaching, and talent around them, to be successful.

jennings looked pretty terrible the last two times we've publically seen him.

The guy has played in two games. The first was a loss unless we got spectacular QB play. He provided it. The second was a bowl game, and we won. If his whole career goes like that you'll be bitching about how shitty he is, and we'll have three national championships.

I haven't read anything on him but he looked bulked up and rangy in the vids/pics I've seen of camp so far. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the 210-215 range right now. Adams, Paris, and Battle are kinda stealing the spotlight.

If his arm is healthy its going to help him fight off blocks and be more explosive off the edge w/ better leverage this year
