You tailgate near the track on Nicholson, or am I not thinking of the right place. I know for VaTech last year they dropped a busload of their fans right in front of our tailgate and we fed every one of them some pastalaya and they ended up tailgating with us the rest of the day.
the busses usually unload in between the practice facility and the vetmed lot...we tailgate in front of the vet school

Same way in Athens... There is plenty of good and bad there too.

I hear you, but that is not the case with what LongTimeTiger is talking about. We were on that trip together. While minding our own business and cooking, a truck passes by and some idiot sticks his head out the window and says, "F___ LSU. Go home. Oh wait, that's right, you don't have a home." This was in the aftermath of Katrina. Real classy. And that wasn't the only incident. Just saying.

Oh ok. Maybe what I was talking about was a run from the Pastime or something.

If you adhere to this as stated all will be well and you will have a hell of an experience. Be careful traveling and enjoy.

Awesome seats. You will be right behind your team. I'm seven rows behind you on the north 45 yd line.
Just a sprinkling of visiting fans in that section, but you will have some company dressed in red. Most visiting fans are in the south endzone and east upper.
You will find the crowd very hospitable unless you intend on getting in a shouting match when you get tigerbaited.
It's going to be a beautiful day and a great game, arrive early & stay late. A good day to forget about politics and your 401k.
Welcome to Louisiana!

oh, i know there are assholes everywhere
i have a family friend that goes to bama and lives in a house just off campus
she had a parking spot reserved for us all weekend and basically showed us around (her and about 8 of her friends)
we were like their little show and tell toys. we all had a blast.
even their neighboors were cool....we tradded some boudin for some bbq, shared stories of how we hated auburn, how he had heard tubberville was heading to texas a&m, hung out with Greg McElroys parents before the game then greg and some of his friends after the game
we had a grand ole time

That's not true. You are going to have a great time in that section. But you may want to avoid the student section.

SET - I have heard you make this reference before, and I don't doubt it. I have to admit, my worst memory of an away game was of the '05 SECCG with the crowd chanting "Ka-trina" over and over as the Tigers took the field.
I try to remember that that was Atlanta, and not Athens, so maybe not so classless closer to UGA...but 'dawg, there were ALOT of LSU fans that went and it is their last memory of UGA, so expect some unwarranted payback from some...just know where its coming from...hope you enjoy your trip though.

LSUfan4444 - I might take you up on that. The details are sketchy right now. All I know is my best friend has the tickets, he's swinging through Montgomery to pick me up on Friday, and a bus is picking us up in the French Quarter on Saturday. I don't know what time and we'll be with several other guys I haven't seen in some time so I'll end up going with the flow. My friend seems to think that the bus ride includes food and booze so I'm assuming it is an all inclusive type deal but even those details are sketchy right now. The guy who is running the show is an UGA alum from the early 70's and he's one helluva good time so I trust that he'll have us set up right. He's a crazy mofo for sure. I'll shoot you an email and if we get there early and I can pull away, a couple of us might take you up on your hospitality. If not, thanks for the invite!!!

Dawg, I hope you have a great experience in Tiger Stadium. It is truly one of the great venues in all of sports. Only bad thing is we aren't playing at night, but I know the atmosphere will still be electric.
Just be ready for some "tigerbaiting" by the LSU faithful and take it with a grain of salt. Most will offer you some food and drink afterword. And whatever you do, don't miss LSU's band march into the stadium. Even visiting fans have admitted that LSU's pregame gives them goose bumps.

Yeah, I will not harass any opposing fans at our place because of something that happened to me while I was at their place. I don't think that's fair. And anyway, other than getting our asses kicked, we had a great experience in Athens in 2004.
I will however call bullshite and make references if any fan comes on here and claims that we are classless, like they aren't. Which is why I made my post to Bama guy. The pot and kettle are both black.

Keep it around 75 on I-65 from Mtgy to Mobile. State troopers have been beefing up patrol the last few months.

GreeneDawg...
Come back and tell us about your experience, ok?
If that bus doesn't leave NOLA til 11a or 12p... I'd find another way there. You should get there by 10am, ideally for a 2:30 game.
ALSO... resist going out all night in NOLA.. It will be almost impossible to do, but try to get to bed by at least 3a.. or you'll be hurtin, buddy.

same here greenedawg
unless you have police escort, that bus better be in B.R around 8am for you to experience any of the above things. Time will fly, and you don't want to waste it on a bus. 2:30 kickoff means players arrive @ 12:30. that doesn't leave much time to walk the campus and
experience one hell of a tailgate atmosphere...
just my 2 cents.

I'll know more tommorow about the times. I'm hoping for early and I'm going to try not to get carried away in NO on Friday. Some good food, a few beers then maybe catch some live music and a few more beers and I'll be done. Saturday will be a different story though. I'll come back and let y'all know how it goes fo sho.

That is easier said than done. Many a times I have been on my way back to BR after a night out in NO and to our surprise it was daylight.

Good luck with any good live music. Hate to say that, but in the Quarter,.. it'll be cover bands. Some blues.. some jazz. It's all about the dirty dirty Bounce.. and nuttin but ho's.
For a good time... go to the Gold Mine on St. Peter after going to Pat O'Briens on St. Peter. (just off Bourbon)
There will be a shite load of Ga fans out.
