re: Tiger Stadium's Turf

I was there and I noticed the turf too. Every time someone got tackled it looked like they were playing in a sand box...

Had a great time!

Just wanted to stop by and tell y'all that we had a great time at the game on Saturday. I had heard so many bad things about the LSU fans that I was a little worried about what I might end up getting into but my experience was nothing but positive. I saw 2 people acting like fools all day and one of them was an UGA fan. We sat dead on the 48 yard line, 7 rows from the field behind the UGA bench. My only regret is that we were fairly late getting to the stadium so I didn't get to see nearly as much of the campus as I would've liked. Thanks to everyone who extended the invitation for us to join them for a drink or two and I'm sorry we weren't able to make it. The stadium was cool and it had it's moments where is was very loud. The band was sweet too! We had a blast and really enjoyed all of the LSU fans we talked to. Hope to see some of you in Athens next year. Good luck the rest of the way!

I'm outta here and more than likely won't be back online until Sunday. Thanks for the tips and here is to a good clean smashmouth football game... See ya in Baton Rouge!
This morning from the AJC on Ellerbe...

Ellerbe, Chandler updates

As Hebron and White are sidelined, two other players at their positions could be returning from injuries.

Seniors Dannell Ellerbe and Tripp Chandler, the starters at middle linebacker and tight end, respectively, before missing the past two games, have a chance to play Saturday.

“Ellerbe is making progress,” Richt said. “He’s going to make the trip and pad up. We think he’ll play, yeah.”

Ellerbe, who has a sprained knee, has declined interview requests this week.

Richt said he doesn’t know who will start at middle linebacker even if Ellerbe is able to play, but his guess was that Darryl Gamble, the starter the past two weeks, would do so. “He is healthier right now.”

Chandler, who has an injured shoulder, remains “in the questionable range” for Saturday’s game, Richt said.

Chandler said after practice Tuesday that “it’s a 50-50 thing” whether he’ll be able to play.

“It’s definitely my goal to play,” Chandler said.

Sophomore Bruce Figgins started at tight end last week after opting to delay shoulder surgery until after the season.

Couldn't tell you the last time that we threw to the TE (several games) which is unusual for UGA... We're beat to helll there.
Only two WR's to really speak of. Green is 6'4 -200 and fast. UGA will throw anything from screens to bombs to him. Massaqoi is a little smaller but he's a really tough possetion type WR that can also catch the deep ball. UGA has been going deep 4 or 5 times a game lately. These two will likely catch 85% of the passes to WR's. Kris Durham might be back and he's just a tall lanky white kid with good hands and deceptive speed.
"thank you for that wannabe tv commentator guy"

You're welcome...
126 to Bama if I'm not mistaken.

re: Fly over

Posted by greenedawg on 10/23/08 at 1:23 pm to
I'm working out in Fort Worth at the Lockheed plant where they make the F-16 and the new F-35. I see flyovers everyday... :usa:
Watch out for the true frosh AJ Green though... He's #8 and he is a freak. We'll go to him early and often...
They are young but they are starting to come together so we'll see. It was this time last year that our OL came together and we started killing folks... Stacy Searels is the OL coach and y'all are familiar with him. He is a good coach and they are coming around.
UGA's depth chart....
LINK

Notice that your youngest DL is as old as out oldest OL. This worries me ALOT! We start three freshmen and two sophs on the o line.
The lowdown for those of you who haven't watched UGA much this season is this. Our run D has been awfly stingy so far and are #3 in the country in yards per game. Our Passing D has been pretty suspect and Bryan Evans (#3) has become the other teams target over the past few games and he's been burnt a few times. Asher Allen (#2) is the other corner and he is the real deal. Part of the pass D's problem is that we haven't been able to pressure the QB on a regular basis so to strictly blame the secondary would be a little out of line. On offense, we've stacked up yards like cord wood. That said, we have managed to shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties, turnovers, and questionable playcalling at times so we have yet to light up the scoreboard. We have a freshman kicker who has a cannon for a leg and most everyone thinks he's a good one but he did miss two last week so we'll see how he bounces back. If he misses one early it won't be a good sign for UGA.

I'll know more tommorow about the times. I'm hoping for early and I'm going to try not to get carried away in NO on Friday. Some good food, a few beers then maybe catch some live music and a few more beers and I'll be done. Saturday will be a different story though. I'll come back and let y'all know how it goes fo sho.

LSUfan4444 - I might take you up on that. The details are sketchy right now. All I know is my best friend has the tickets, he's swinging through Montgomery to pick me up on Friday, and a bus is picking us up in the French Quarter on Saturday. I don't know what time and we'll be with several other guys I haven't seen in some time so I'll end up going with the flow. My friend seems to think that the bus ride includes food and booze so I'm assuming it is an all inclusive type deal but even those details are sketchy right now. The guy who is running the show is an UGA alum from the early 70's and he's one helluva good time so I trust that he'll have us set up right. He's a crazy mofo for sure. I'll shoot you an email and if we get there early and I can pull away, a couple of us might take you up on your hospitality. If not, thanks for the invite!!!

Sorry. There is no way I'm going to an away game and wering neutral colors and not pulling for the Dawgs. I'm not going to be acting like a fool though.

I'm all about checking out the players coming down the hill and the band. I want to soak as much of it in as possible, my team or not.
