So you think he changed the mechanics of Rittiner, Bourgeois, and Matulis?

I know a player or two that are convinced Grewe knows what he is doing. then again, Grewe was the one who recruited them

I trust that Maineri knows what the problem is, and he is going to do what is necessary to get us back to Omaha...whether it is retaining Grewe or not.

it may not be only mechanics... who is responsible for everything in between? conditioning, throwing on off days & workload accompanied, etc.

im not saying he is definitely the problem. No one on this board really knows. But there are some question marks there.

Sure there are question marks, but people blaming Grewe and wanting him gone to this point are way too reactionary. He's been here for 2 years, 1 where we won a title. 1 where our staff was bad. This year, the staff has been very much improved, but we'll see how it progresses at the end of the season.

No disrespect to the kids who threw, but none of them are going into an SEC game unless all Hell breaks loose.

Broussard threw on Sunday vs Florida

Peterson threw in TWO games over the weekend vs Florida

Still off topic, but I remember the great game he pitched at Kentucy in the first game of a doubleheader. 8 innings and he gave up maybe 2 or 3 hits. I watched that game at the house on Doescher. We won in extra innings and won the second game with ease. This was in the middle of that incredible winning streak.

Agreed. No offense to the kids, but we didn't have much pitching talent last year. I am not ready to criticize Grewe at this point.

I'll never forget that game either for some reason. I think it really kind of got us started on that streak. Wasn't the first win of the streak, but really got us going. I was listening on the way down to Houma and was so psyched when we won the first one. We were down most of the game. And then to find out we won the 2nd easily was great. Then to win game 3 like we did was amazing.

I remember the Friday night LSU waxed South Carolina in front of about 2,000 fans for the 2nd win of the streak.

You could see it in their eyes. You could see it in their smile.

You could see the wins were all they ever wanted.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Grewe is a great recruiter and I want him as part of our staff.

I also think we need a pitching coach with experience, and Grewe has no pitching experience on his resume.

The only thing Grewe has done is teach that damn cutter and blow arms out. Bringing in better pitchers to start with makes him look better, but look again by years end. How many walks did Florida issue all weekend? The reason for walks is different for every pitcher, if someone knew anything about pitching mechanics then you could help each pitcher individually. Or, just yell "throw strikes" from the dugout..
Look around the SEC at elite programs WITH a pitching coach - Vandy, Florida, Arkansas or even outside the SEC and you will see pitchers develop and improve during the season.
By the way, Robichaux is probably the best pitching coach in the state..

It only took 2 bad pitching performances for the anti-Grewe people to come out this year
